Kashmiri Wikimedians User Group/Events/Community Meetup
The Kashmiri Wikimedians User Group organised a community meetup in Kashmir on February 16, 2025. This gathering aimed to bring together Wikimedians, language enthusiasts, and contributors who are passionate about improving and expanding free knowledge in the Kashmiri language.

This event will bring together Wikimedians and language enthusiasts to discuss the growth of the Kashmiri language in the digital world. The Kashmiri Wikimedians Community Meetup will feature discussions on the current status and future possibilities of the Kashmiri language in the digital world. The program will include:

Report
[edit]The Kashmiri Wikimedians User Group successfully conducted a community meetup on February 16, 2025 at Anantnag in Kashmir. This report outlines the key learnings and feedback received from the event.
- Participation and Attendance A form was published to gather input regarding the availability of participants through existing channels, including our mailing list. We received responses from 14 participants, but only 8 attended the event due to various reasons.
- Community Feedback on Projects and Workflow During the event, community members expressed interest in covering the basics of different Wikimedia projects and understanding their workflows.
- Venue Accessibility Participants suggested hosting future offline meetings in a centrally located venue in Kashmir to enhance accessibility.
- Academic Engagement Several participants from academic institutions showed interest in learning how students could benefit from our projects. One participant, a student of the Kashmiri language at Kashmir University, expressed interest in engaging with the department to explore potential partnerships.
- Post-Event Survey Feedback The post-event survey highlighted that participants valued offline events as they provided better opportunities for connection and collaboration.

While the event metrics fell short of expectations in terms of participants, the meetup provided a valuable opportunity to connect with the community for the first time. We are optimistic about future engagements and aim to address the feedback received to further the mission of the Kashmiri Wikimedians User Group and the Wikimedia Movement as a whole.
