Kashmiri Heritage Edit-a-thon

The Kashmiri Heritage Edit-a-thon is a scheduled online edit-a-thon running from 24th January to 15th February aimed at improving the presence of Kashmiri heritage on Kashmiri Wikipedia. We invite everyone with an interest in Kashmiri culture to help enhance the quality and breadth of information related to Kashmiri heritage, traditions, history, and language on the first Kashmiri online encyclopedia (Kashmiri Wikipedia).

Objectives

  • Expand Kashmiri Heritage on Kashmiri Wikipedia: Contribute to creating, editing, and improving articles related to the history, culture, language, and notable figures of Kashmir.
  • Promote the Kashmiri Language: Help grow the number of articles in Kashmiri and promote the importance of the language in the digital space.
  • Share Cultural Knowledge: Highlight significant aspects of Kashmiri folklore, landmarks, and other cultural elements.
  • Collaborate and Learn: Engage with fellow editors, share knowledge, and build editing skills in a collaborative environment.

How to Participate

  1. Create an account on Kashmiri Wikipedia. If you already have an account, sign in on Kashmiri Wikipedia
  2. Create articles on Kashmiri Wikipedia related to our theme.
  3. You can create/improve articles about academicians, history and culture, philosophers and scientists, organisations, institutions and learning centers, any other relevant article.
  4. Submit the articles using the Fountain tool.

Contest Rules

Participants in the contest are supposed to take cognizance of the following principles:

  • Articles need to created or improved from 00:00, 25 Jan 2025 to 23:59, 15 Feb 2024. (UTC)
  • Articles need to be submitted through Fountain tool only.
  • The minimal word count must be 200. The fountain tool will not accept articles lower than this bar.
  • Please make sure you write articles related to the theme explained in Participation guidelines.
  • Please make sure that the subject you are writing about is notable enough to be included on Kashmiri Wikipedia.
