Üdvözlet!

  • What is this?: The cultural heritage that a large part of societies receive from the past is vertebrate through their language. This is the main motivation for Intercultur, a writing contest to make visible the cultural heritage through the lingüistic variety existing in the Iberian Peninsula.
It consists of translating existing articles into the languages spoken in the Iberian Peninsula, so at the end of the contest all articles provided in a single language are translated into ten. The suggested articles are obtained from the mapping carried out by the Wikipedia Cultural Diversity Observatory, which studies Wikipedias intercultural coverage and fight knowledge inequality. In each language, the five articles refer to a woman, a man, a geolocalized place, an article among the most visited and an article with keywords.
  • When?: The writing contest will run from 00:01 (CET UTC+01:00) February 1, 2019 until 23:59 (CET UTC+01:00) February 28, 2019. So, only the work done between these dates will be included in the contest.
  • How?: The contest is based on a KISS point system: You get points while translating articles to the following languages: Aragonese, Asturian, Basque, Catalan, Extremaduran, Galician, Mirandese, Occitan, Portuguese and Spanish. The goal for each participant is to win as many points as possible. Important! Automatic edits with translation problems or errors are not valid. The scoring rules are as follows:
  • +1 point for each +1,000 bytes of added content in any language.
  • +3 points for each new translation of an article in any language.
  • Who?: Everybody can participate on translating and writing articles. Any Wikipedian with a named account can participate. To participate you just need to sign up on the Participants section.
