Incident Reporting System/Announcements/MVP pilot

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hello community,

Trust and Safety Product is continuing the work on the Incident Reporting System.

We would like to invite your community to pilot the system when it is ready.

With the learnings from the testable product we released to Beta some months ago, the next step is to release an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) for wikis to give us feedback.

The way the MVP will work is simple. Right from a talkpage, a user can report a comment (see screenshots below).

For now, there are two types of incidents we are hoping you can test:

  • Emergency incidents - Incidents relating to immediate threats of physical harm. These incidents need to be handled by the Wikimedia Foundation emergency team.
  • Non-emergency incidents - Incidents that are not immediate threats of harm, for example bullying, sexual harassment and other unacceptable user behavior. These incidents are handled through local community processes.

Below are some screenshots on the flow of reporting:

Non-emergency user flow:

There is more information on how the system will work. We would like to know if the community would like to collaborate with us on this pilot, to help us finish work on developing an easier way for people to report incidents, right from the spaces where harassment happens.

Thank you.

On behalf of the Trust & Safety Product Team, Sandister, Movement Comms.
