Igbo Wikimedians User Group/WikiGap Challenge
- Overview:
This is a Nigeria public writing competition to create and improve articles that will strengthen Wikipedia coverage of Nigerian women. The winners will receive great prizes. The Challenge is organized as part of the global WikiGap campaign by Igbo Wikimedians User Group in Nigeria. It's an event to celebrate International Women's Day. Due to the prevailing global pandemic and to enable us reach more people in Nigeria, we would therefore host a 2hr online training via Zoom on Wikipedia for interested participants to be followed by the online contest.
- When
- The online training will take place from 8th March 2022 to 10th March 2022 between 12:00 to 01:30pm.
- The writing challenge will run from 00:01 from 13th March to 11:59 13th April.
- How:

- Who:
Everybody can help in any language to collaborate on writing articles related to Nigerian women. Any Wikipedian with a named account (on any wiki, including the incubator) can participate. To participate you just need to sign up on the dashboard
- Why:
The contest is conceived by Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs(ref) and this version is organized by Igbo Wikimedians User Group, with support from The Wikimedia Foundation

Event Summary
[edit]The WikiGap Challenge started on the 8th of March with the launch of the event and 4 days training on contributing to Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikiquote. Over 25 community members attended the launch while 86 persons joined the contest which started on the 13th of March and ended on the 13th of April 2022.
