Questions about your request

[edit]

Dear Kwameghana: Thank you for your submission. We have a few questions about our proposal, as follows:

  • Your budget breakdown includes a DSRL Camera, Wikimedia Foundation T-shirts and Souvenirs, and Wikimedia Branded BackPack. These items do not have corresponding costs associated with them. Are we to understand that these items will be provided via another avenue, and that you are only asking us for the cost of travel, food and drinks and miscellaneous expenses?
    • Please note that, unfortunately, our grants programs are not able to cover equipment for individuals, only for groups that share it in common with the community (like the camera for the Wikimedia Ghana Usergroup).
  • Can you clarify what kinds of expenses you anticipate in the "miscellaneous" category?
  • Can you please share more with us about how your attendance at this event would bring value to the Wikimedia movement? For example, if your goal is to recruit new contributors to Commons, please share more with us about your outreach plan. How will you accomplish recruitment?

Thanks again for your submission. We look forward to learning more about your plan for this event.

Warm regards,

Answers to your questions regarding request

[edit]

Thank you very much for your response.

  • I will go for the DSRL camera which is in the custody of the Wikimedia Ghana User-group to undertake this endeavor and safely return it back. That is why I did not add the price of the camera.
  • The "miscellaneous" category is there to cover any additional cost or any unforeseen cost which may arise in the cause of the phototrip.
  • My attendance is not only to recruit new photographers to contribute to Wikimedia Commons, but to also capture images of Begoro and Fanteakwa District which includes tourist sites, people, landscapes and many more. This is going to benefit the Wikimedia movement because it is going to help editors on Wikipedia and other sister projects get contents related to the images I took.

I will setup an introduction session to speak to the photographers on the need for them to contribute their pictures to Wikimedia.

Please let me know if I have to make any adjustments to the budget I quoted since it is a travel grant. Thank you very much once again.--Kwameghana (talk) 23:46, 3 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Request Funded

[edit]

Dear Kwameghana: Thank you for your response to our questions. We think your proposal is a great idea and we are happy to fund your request for travel, food and drink. Unfortunately, "miscellaneous" expenses are not eligible for funding. However, we can reimburse you for any unexpected, eligible expenses you encounter on your trip.

You requested Wikimedia merchandise for your event, including T-shirts, souvenirs and a backpack. We have a separate procedure for requesting merchandise. You can find instructions here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:TPS/Plan_trip#Requesting_swag Although the instructions say that you can submit your request up to one month before an event, we strongly recommend that you submit your request as soon as possible to allow as much time as possible for shipping.

We look forward to hearing about your trip through your report!

Warmly, --Marti (WMF) (talk) 16:34, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you

Thank very for granting me this great opportunity to embark on this trip. It looks like backpack is sold out at the online store.

Which address should I use for the billing information? "Same as shipping address" or "Use a different billing address". Which one should I choose?

Thank you.--Kwameghana (talk) 08:08, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Kwameghana: the shipping address would be your location where you want the items delivered. The billing information is WMF's information. Kindly let me know when you've sent in the order, so I can follow up with the merch store. If you run into other problems or have questions, please email us at grantsadmin(_AT_)wikimedia.org. -- Best wishes, Jtud (WMF) (talk) 21:55, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
