Remarks MADe

[edit]

I think this is a very strong submission. Support by multiple organisations, only 20% to be funded by the GAC. I have no comments, only a question, as the conference seems to be in French, did you have contact with WM FR or Quebec, maybe they have more easily accessible funds for these things? MADe (talk) 13:53, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your comments Maarten. I take the liberty to answer, even if I'm not officially on the panel, it is organized by our working group the Quebec Committee. You're right it's a strong submission; the majority of funding comes from several sources, a good work has been done by our volunteers Nathalie and Simon who found 80% of the funds somewhere else: Les Classiques des Sciences Sociales, Érudit, Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie and also personnal funding from our volunteers. Although this project is in French language, Wikimedia France is not involved and as you probably know Quebec Committee, even if we are a very active user group within Wikimedia sphere, we don't do fundraisings. Thank you for your consideration. Best regards, Benoit Rochon (talk) 15:28, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Request funded

[edit]

Thank you for this request. We would like to support the panel in the amount of up to US$885 for registration fees of the four participants; although not all participants in the panel are active contributors we do note that the panel is being organized by and with several active contributors and that the topics discussed are very directly related to movement work. We are supporting the participation of the full panel since the participation of each person on the panel (whether an active contributor is not) is required to make the panel a success. We also appreciate that participants have secured or are providing additional funding to cover their costs of participation, and are only requesting partial funding through this program.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this detailed request and best wishes from the committee for a successful event. Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 00:31, 5 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Update - Grant amount

[edit]

We are very happy that this panel can happen thanks to the support of the Wikimedia Foundation! One of the participants, Dr. Oumar Kane, will unfortunately not be able to attend. The total amount requested for this grant will then be 885-425 = 360 US$. 192.139.14.133

Thank you for providing this update, and this change is of course approved. I will update your submission to show the change. Best regards, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 00:29, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Winifred to follow this up, IP 192.139.14.133 is fr:User:Seeris. Even without Prof. Kane, this panel will be amazing. It's too bad that I can't afford to be present on that day. Anyway, thanks for the grant, and thanks for your marvelous work. I'm very proud that WMF can sustain our working group, the Quebec Committee (WP:COMQC). New Update - Back to the original grant amount!

[edit]

Good news, Prof. Kane just announced me that he will be able to be with us! We are very happy that he can provide us with an overall analysis of communication networks in post-colonial contexts. Thanks again to all who helped, and sorry for the turnaround! Seeris (talk)

We are pleased to hear that, Seeris, and we will approve the restoration of the original budget. Thank you for keeping us updated. Best regards, 23:50, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
