Thanks

[edit]

Hi Oarabile, thanks for your participation in this event and for sharing the outcomes with us in this great report! Some brief feedback/questions:

  • We love that you blogged about the event and included a link here. I noticed that you focused on Mozilla's perspectives a lot, which are quite interesting, but you didn't include thoughts as a Wikimedian on the event...was curious if there was any reason for this or it was just reflective of how you were thinking about things that day :)
  • I wrote two blogs and got to realize that i provided one blog which i talked about Mozilla, sorry about that i corrected the mistake and here is the Wikimedia blog link also corrected it on the report. Thanks for your corrections :)
  • The pictures, too, are really great to see. Might you upload 1 or 2 to Commons?
  • I will surely put them up on wikimedia commons and share there link both on the report and here.
  • Sounds like you made some good contacts for the future - will be interesting to see if anything new evolves from these, congratulations!
  • I hope to work well with my contacts and achieve our goals of the year, good start so far now that i have started to provide some mentorship lessons and links on how to start a chapter. Its very good that one volunteer from Angola works with the minister of ICT in Angola and he is advising his ministry to undertake WikipediaZero in partnership with WMF. Still working on evrything and i will share the outcomes.
  • I understand there was some confusion with the hotel and conference organizers and ultimately WMF covered a bit more of the accommodation than anticipated. I wonder if you have anything you'd want to share in the "lessons learned" section about this, for the benefit of others in the future?
  • I have included some more information on that section, absolutely it was a very stressful yet a learning experience of what i encountered when i was in Mauritius. I really appreciate your feedback on this report i wish to continue requesting back for the support of your committee.Oarabile Mudongo (talk) 16:43, 17 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks again for this report, the details are very interesting and it sounds like it was a useful event to have attended! Best, Siko (WMF) (talk) 17:20, 2 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Funds sent

[edit]

Additional funds were approved for this grant to cover increased flight costs, unexpected hotel expenses that should have been covered by the conference organizers, and wire transfer fees associated with receiving two transfers at US$30 each. US$42 was not used for breakfast per diem, since it was provided by the hotel.

Below is the total amount sent for this grant.

  1. Total for travel: US$1738 (booked by WMF, the cheapest flight available was US$460.80 above the budgeted price)
  2. Total sent for first installment: US$213 (total amount approved for per diem, disbursed in advance)
  3. Total sent for second installment: US$298 (two nights hotel at US$140 per night, US$60 for wire transfer fees, US$42 deducted)
  4. Total amount sent for all three items: US$2249 (US$971.80 more than the approved amount of US$1277.20)
