Grants talk:TPS/NestedLoops/Hack42-Hackerspace-Exchange
Add topicQuestions about your participation
[edit]Dear NestedLoops,
Thank you for submitting this request.
Please note that TPS does not support volunteers to do direct content creation (i.e. taking photos and uploading them). Instead, we fund Wikimedian volunteers to participate in events in which they are uniquely qualified to do outreach about about Wikimedia projects with non-Wikimedians. So, for the purpose of this proposal, please remove references to your own direct content creation work (uploading photos) since it is not relevant for our review of your application and so including it makes it harder for me to discern what the outcomes of your workshop will do.
Your workshop is eligible for TPS support. Can you answer the following questions about it?
- What do you expect participants in your workshop to learn? What will they be able to do after your workshop that they couldn't de before it?
- Will participants upload content during the workshop? What is your goal for content creation by participants?
Lastly, in regard to your budget, can you please break down your expenses by day?
Thank you!
Warm regards,

Dear Marti (WMF)
First of all thank you for the enquiry on my report since it is the first time for me to apply for a grant. I might have had some misconceptions about the direct content uploading so I elaborated more on the talk that's going to take place at Hack42. I reduced the days of my participation for the Wiki Commons initiative to the two days of the event. Believing my application is ready for another review and I hope that I have answered your questions.
Thank you :)
Kind regards,

Request funded
[edit]Because your request is for only a small amount, and because your engagement about your proposal has been steady, I am approving your request. We will reimburse you for any receipts you submit related to food, drinks and transportation, up to 90 Euros. Before you decide to accept funding support, please make sure to read all of the steps required of TPS participants and confirm that you are prepared to meet our requirements, as described in the "How the program works" page.
Your post-event report is due 14 days after the event. The report requires you to link to an outcome. Fulfilling the outcome requirement tends to be the most challenging task for TPS recipients. Please consider in advance how you would meet the requirement. Some applicants mistakenly assume they can submit the materials they presented at the event (such as a slide deck, a research paper or a poster) to meet the outcome requirement. We do like you to link to your presentation materials, but they do not meet the outcome requirement. An outcome must be something that is created during or after the event because of your participation. The purpose is to extend the value of your participation beyond the conference. For example, your outcome could be something new that was co-created by you and your fellow participants at the event, like one or more articles on Wikipedia improving content about a topic that conference participants know about. Your outcome could also be a blog post you write after the event to share your conference learnings with others who did not attend the conference. You may also write a learning pattern to teach others something you've learned at the event. If you are not sure how to meet the outcome requirement, we recommend that you reach out to us with questions.
In your report, please make sure to report on:
- the number of participants that attended your talk,
- the number articles that were created on SQ Wikipedia by participants as a result of your talk
- the number articles that were created on NL Wikipedia by participants as a result of your talk
Remember, the goal for TPS funded participation is for you to support others in completing content creation, rather than for you to do content creation directly.
Should you submit additional requests in the future, please aim to create measurable targets for your outcomes (for example, "Participants in my talk will create or improve at least 20 articles on SQ Wikipedia").
Our Grants Administrator will be in touch with you about your reimbursement.
Thank you for work on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation.
Warm regards,
