Information about your presentation

[edit]

Hello, Greta: Can you provide us with some more information about what you are presenting at the conference, such as a short description of your presentation or a link? Thank you! Winifred Olliff (WMF Program Officer) talk 16:29, 9 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Wolliff. The Gender Gap is one of the most talked topic since forever, and still a Gap. Where are women in Wikipedia? Why the gap is so big ~85 Man, ~15 Women? Are we discussing the right reasons about females non participating on editing Wikipedia? I can add a lot of questions like this. The thing is that this gap should be reduced with large steps. Edit-a-thon/presentations about gender gap help but looks that are not enough. In Albania except the part of the Gender Gap females editor, it is the gap of notable females that have an article on Wikipedia Albania. But this is not a local problem. Gender gap is a global problem. What happens when women don't write on Wikipedia?
  • Wikipedia lacks coverage of subjects that women may have interest in (i.e. history, literature, women's sport, healthcare, education)
  • Biographical coverage about women is severely lacking.
  • Discussions about topics such as pregnancy, abortion and feminism are often dominated by males.

I am often asked specially by males: What/Who stops you to edit? I am not sure if i have to right answer.

My participation at AdaCamp Berlin was so useful and helped me a lot to understand "the gap" of female participation in every field of life. I want to address the problem, by addressing these questions and giving solutions that me(sharing my own experience)and others who work at Wikipedia community have done till now.

E.g. To reduce this gap me as part as WikiAcademy Albania in collaboration with Wikimedia Serbia we will have and event "Wiki Women Camp" this April in Prishtina when 7 girls from each country will edit about notable females from respective city.

Some of the Articles that i am using on my presentation:

Unfortunately i haven't done my presentation yet, but of course after i finish it, i will upload on commons. IF you have other questions please share :) Margott (talk) 15:29, 10 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

No problem, Margott. The additional costs you needed to add for food and transport to and from the airport are also approved. We do encourage you to submit future requests well in advance, whenever you can, since we can't always promise such a quick turn-around time on requests.
