Question about your request

[edit]

Dear Kwameghana: Thank you for your submission. Our apologies for our slow reply--we are currently transitioning leadership of this program and we're a little behind in our review of requests. I realize we've now passed the date of the Photography Tour - Discovering Ho & Amedzofe. Were you able to attend? If you went to this event, we are still considering funding it, but we have some questions first before we can make a decision. --Mjohnson (WMF) (talk) 16:59, 7 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much. At least you responded. It is rather unfortunate that I couldn't attend the said photography tour due to lack of funds. I have come to develop a passionate love for photography and contributing to Wikipedia through imagery has now become what I love to do. The camera in possession now belongs to the Wikimedia Ghana User Group and any member can come for it at anytime making it inconvenient for me to complete any task. There is another photography tour coming up which is scheduled for next month. This time I am part of the organizing team of two for now. Others will come and join later.I Will really need some funds and a professional camera to pull this off. Thank you --Kwameghana (talk) 23:35, 11 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Kwameghana, thank you for your reply. Since you weren't able to attend the May 2nd photography tour, we will close this proposal. You are welcome to start a new, separate proposal for a future photography tour for the Participation Support Committee to review. It sounds like your goal on your tour is to recruit Ghanaian photographers as new volunteers on Commons. Have you thought about what strategies or outreach materials you might use to help you succeed in your goal? If you decide to submit another proposal, it would be helpful if you could tell us in more detail about your plan and how many photographers you hope to reach. Thank you! --Mjohnson (WMF) (talk) 11:44, 14 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reply. I think trying to recruit photographers to volunteer on commons is going to be a difficult task after a quick thought. So I believe I can do it myself alone by taking pictures of all the ten regions of Ghana and uploading them on Wiki Commons.I have been contributing for sometime now with a borrowed tablet from a cousin and the camera I am using now belongs to the Wikimedia Ghana Community, which can be taking away from anytime. I want to start a project which I call " Discover Ghana". Tell me the steps I can take. Thank you!--Kwameghana (talk) 23:57, 16 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Kwameghana! It's wonderful that you want to photographically document all ten regions of Ghana on Wiki Commons. Unfortunately, our grants programs are not able to cover equipment for individuals, only for groups that share it in common with the community (like the camera you are borrowing from the Wikimedia Ghana Usergroup). You may want to discuss your vision with the Wikimedia Ghana Usergroup since photographing all ten regions of Ghana was the goal of their Wikimedia Commons Group in their recent Project and Events Grant. Perhaps you can work with them and develop a plan to borrow the camera strategically to achieve your shared goals. I wish you the best of luck with your endeavor! --Mjohnson (WMF) (talk) 18:20, 22 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I have placed an application for travel funding. Maybe you might want to take a look at it. Thank you.--Kwameghana (talk) 23:07, 22 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
