Question about other funding sources[edit]

Thank you for the request. The budget you've presented seems reasonable and we appreciate the detail, and we're also excited about your participation.

We would like to know, however, if you've sought full or partial funding through the Boston City Archives to attend this event and if there is a reason why the Archives are unable to fund your participation, or why you feel it is more appropriate for you to seek funding through the Wikimedia Participation Support Program instead of through the Boston City Archives.

Thank you, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 23:33, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Other Funding Sources[edit]

Yes, I discussed the possibility of funding with the City Archivist. Unfortunately, we don't have the money for this in our budget for this year. Since we are a division of the City, our budget is set at the beginning of each fiscal year and is strict.

Let me know if you have any other questions BostonCityArchives (talk) 18:40, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

OK, thanks! Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 19:07, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Question about your contributions to Wikimedia projects[edit]

We also noticed you have not linked to a Username. Would you please describe how you are active on Wikimedia projects and link to your Username on any projects to which you are an active contributor? Thank you, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 00:01, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Contributions to Wikimedia projects[edit]

To date, we have only contributed to 1 Wikimedia project. We contributed 349 images of Boston Public School Buildings - and the metadata for those images - as a Collaboration Project [[1]] My username User:BostonCityArchives is not associated with that project because the images were put up by User:Dominic We would like to start contributing more frequently to Wikimedia projects - hence my interest in attending the Launch Weekend and gaining more knowledge and tools. Thanks for that info! Cheers, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 19:06, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Notification[edit]

I will be unable to access a computer or phone between March 9 and 17. I have arranged for a friend to book my flight and hostel if I am awarded travel funding. If you notify me of funding, please CC the notification to juliemarie84[at]gmail.com. Thank you! BostonCityArchives (talk) 23:06, 8 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Request not funded[edit]

Hello, BostonCity:

First, we would like to thank you for the thoughtful request and for your work at the archives; we hope you continue your valuable work there and we look forward to hearing more about it.

We are unable to approve this request as it stands :

  1. Since you have not made significant contributions under your own username, it is difficult to consider your contributions. Note that this program is designed to support active contributors to Wikimedia projects, and so considering an applicant's contribution record is an important part of evaluating each request.
  2. We are reluctant to fund an expensive request for a lightning talk unless there is a good case for other significant benefits to the movement. For example, a strong statement from the Wikimedia community in Boston regarding the possible value of the work at the archives and how it relates to this request may have made a better case for funding.

We do hope this does not discourage you from continuing your work in the GLAM-Wiki sector or from applying for funding for future opportunities that may be a better match. Thank you once again for your engagement in the review process.

Sincerely, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 00:21, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
