Feedback on report

[edit]

Dear Bobbyshabangu,

Thank you for this report. As you know from my comments in the approval of your initial request, one of the requirements for grant completion is submission of an outcome as part of your report. Unfortunately, your Quora response does not meet this requirement. The reason is that your post is focused on supporting participants in TEDx by proving information about the process of preparing a talk in that forum. For the purpose of our funding requirements, we need you to instead submit an outcome that supports participants in the Wikimedia movement. One option for an outcome to provide a link to something new that was co-created by you and your fellow participants at the event. Since you mentioned that you hosted an editathon, you may wish to provide links to the articles that were created or improved during the editathon.

Please let us know if you would like additional support in determining how to create an outcome for this report. We ask that you post a comment here on the talk page once you've updated your report with an outcome.

Warm regards,

Wikimedia Outcomes from my TEDx Talk

[edit]

Dear Marti (WMF) thanks for your response.

My apologies I missed that part of an outcome.

Unfortunately I lost my mobile device which I used to take pictures of the Editathon which took place the 2nd day after my talk.

However through my talk I manage to activate 3 new users, so including myself and one other Wikipedian based in Port Elizabeth we were 5 in all.

We worked on the Algoa_Bay_Yacht_Club page, which was a one line sentence stub. But we manage to upload a picture and improve the page. And although the page now has some couple of issues which I'm helping them sort out but after my departure the Wikipedians continued to work on this page which makes me to safely say that this was a successful endeavour.

Should there be anything I'm missing out please let me know. Bobbyshabangu (talk) 09:06, 23 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

The only picture I have for the editathon is this below:

Report accepted

[edit]

Dear Bobbyshabangu,

Recognizing your good faith effort to meet the outcome requirement for this program (through your Quora post, and the outcomes of the Editathon) and in light of the small cost of the grant, we're accepting this report. However, as noted, we are concerned that your Quora post does not meaningfully raise awareness about the Wikimedia movement, and, rather, seems to highlight a general lack of preparation for this event. We're also concerned that the article produced during the editathon includes COI and Peacock flags, which suggest that the participants weren’t appropriately guided regarding relevant Wikipedia policies. Consequently, though we are closing out the grant, we're noting that your report suggests to us this was not a successful or productive TPS project. Please note that prior to further funding in the future, we would need to see a clear plan for higher quality outcomes than have been submitted in this case. Should you apply for grant funding again, we advise you to see support from a WMF Program Officer to get help with this planning before you submit your proposal.

That said, we do appreciate your efforts to support the Wikimedia movement.

Best regards,
