[edit]Hello Bojana Wiki PG and Wikimedians of Republic of Srpska, thanks again for submitting your Simple APG application. We have completed its initial review and have some follow-up questions for you to address:
- In the proposal under the Edu-Wiki section you have mentioned that “the community will also work to educate the public on topics related to the Wikimedia movement and free knowledge”. How are you planning to make this happen?
- Is the Annual Conference the same as the Local Conference and when might it take place? Similarly, when will the seminar for professors take place?
- One of the measures for the Edu-Wiki project is the number of images uploaded to Wikimedia Commons (100 images). Does this number refer to the created educational content or event photos?
- You are planning to organize the Trace of Soul contest for the fifth time. Have you measured the number of cultural and natural monuments still missing quality photos on the Wikimedia projects? Is this number still substantial?
- Are you one of the main organizers of the Museum Night 2021 in the Republic of Srpska?
- Almost every activity of the application has some sort of Media release attached to it. Might this be something you want to register and track in the metrics?
- You have “Bytes added” as one of the grantee defined metrics. Could you please explain what significance this defined metrics have for you, and what it helps to measure?
- Please fix the total of Education Program (cell D29) in the Budget Plan.
Thanks again for your work and dedication. I’ll be looking forward to your response. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 08:57, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hello DSaroyan (WMF),
Thank you for your questions. Please find out our answers and explanations, and let us know if you have more questions.
- In the proposal under the Edu-Wiki section you have mentioned that “the community will also work to educate the public on topics related to the Wikimedia movement and free knowledge”. How are you planning to make this happen?
- We will put effort to inform the public about our mission and vision, through our programs and using social networks, blogs, websites, public speech, etc.
- Is the Annual Conference the same as the Local Conference and when might it take place? Similarly, when will the seminar for professors take place?
- The Annual Conference and the Local Conference names for the same conference. In addition to the local conference, we will organize a separate event - seminar for EDU institutions. Both events will be held in 2021 (~May and April, based on COVID-19 recommendations about events).
- One of the measures for the Edu-Wiki project is the number of images uploaded to Wikimedia Commons (100 images). Does this number refer to the created educational content or event photos?
- During the seminar, participants will upload their own photos. That will be in the part where we will teach them about CC license, Wikimedia Commons, and how to add a photo to Wikipedia articles. Of course, photos will be by Wikimedia’s standards and local copyright laws. We will organize one photo tour where we will take pictures of local landmarks and sights.
- You are planning to organize the Trace of Soul contest for the fifth time. Have you measured the number of cultural and natural monuments still missing quality photos on the Wikimedia projects? Is this number still substantial?
- We regularly monitor all the lists and update them every year according to the official lists. For now, we covered ~60% od all monuments in Republike Srpska.
- Are you one of the main organizers of the Museum Night 2021 in the Republic of Srpska?
- The Museum Night 2021 in the Republic of Srpska will be organized by GLAMS each for themselves. We will be co-organizer in the Museum of Old Herzegovine where we will present our work and winning photos from Trace Of Soul 2019. We will be the central part of The Night’s exhibition in that museum.
- Almost every activity of the application has some sort of Media release attached to it. Might this be something you want to register and track in the metrics?
- Cooperation with the media and the presence of our organization in the media space is very important for the promotion of our activities. Experience has shown that this makes it easier for our organization to establish partnerships with target institutions or organizations. Thanks to media announcements, the reputation of the organization at the local level are raised and it is recognized as a reliable partner. Also, institutions love when their name is found in media releases. So far we have several hundred media mentions.
- You have “Bytes added” as one of the grantee defined metrics. Could you please explain what significance this defined metrics have for you, and what it helps to measure?
- Thanks to the bytes we can track the extent of topics we are covered. Since we try to deal with less covered topics, in order to reduce the thematic gap, with Bytes tracking we can see what has been done so far.
- Please fix the total of Education Program (cell D29) in the Budget Plan.
- Done.
If you have more questions - we will be happy to answer. We are at your disposal.

- P.S.: We're aware that this is pretty short - I'm sure we can talk more about this in detail if there is still some need for clarification. Philip Kopetzky (talk) 16:43, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
APG approved in the amount of 16,485 EUR
[edit]Congratulations! Wikimedians of Republic of Srpska User Group’s Simple Annual Plan Grant is approved in the amount of 16,485 EUR, with a grant term starting 1 July 2020 and ending 30 June 2021.
Wikimedians of Republic of Srpska User Group is now in its fourth year in the Simple Annual Plan Grant program. In 2020-2021, the user group aims at achieving the goals described in its new Strategic Plan through three main programmatic areas: Educational Program, GLAM Program, and Community Activities. These areas include a number of diverse projects — each with its clear goals and measures of success. We appreciate Wikimedians of Republic of Srpska’s work on this thorough Annual Plan that demonstrates a significant degree of independent planning and strategic analysis.
In the Educational Program, the user group strives to collaborate with educational institutions in order to ensure the creation of open knowledge. This year, Wikimedians of Republic of Srpska plans to train educators directly, through organizing a seminar for professors. We are looking forward to seeing how this seminar will increase the engagement of educators and educational institutions in the Wikimedia Movement. The GLAM program is mainly centered around different local and international partnerships; we appreciate the user group’s effort in seeking new GLAM partners, which will hopefully bring more diversity in terms of the added content and Wikimedia community. Finally, we are excited that the group plans to continue its community activities by contributing to the capacity building of the local Wikimedians, bridging the gender gap, and ensuring interactions with the global Wikimedia Movement parties.
We are looking forward to seeing their work unfold this year. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 06:37, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
