Preliminary approval

Dear Art+Feminism Team,

Thank you for submitting this thoughtful application, including your annual plan, strategic plan, and budget. After a thorough review and analysis of your application and your most recent reports, we have decided to recommend funding your plan in the amount of $150,000 that you have requested, for a grant period of 1 September 2018 - 31 August 2019. Due to the size of this grant, it will be sent to the executive level for approval, and we will post a notice once this approval is finalized.

We recognize that this will be an important year for your organization, as you are working to lay the groundwork for a sustainable organization in the future, and at the same time continue to maintain your work in North America and expand internationally. We see that you are employing several mitigating strategies to address the risks that may affect your plan, and that this includes investing in the next generation of leadership for your project and pursuing your goal of becoming a formal organization. We appreciate that you have included specific goals that are relevant to your work and to your specific plans for this year. We hope that the adjustment in grant term you are requesting will also give you some additional lead time to focus on the coming year.

We have deep appreciation for your responsiveness to the growing momentum you have experienced in the Latin America region, and agree with your strategic focus in this area. We realize that the increase you are requesting is required in order to make this a reality.

It is clear that you will be doing a great deal of work over the next year, but we are optimistic that it will pay off in the long term. Your project continues to be important to our movement, as you work to support the growth of more diverse and inclusive communities and content that better represents the sum of all human knowledge. I think this is an appropriate time to look back with pride on all that you have achieved over the last several years. We are grateful to have you as a part of our movement, and I look forward to working with you over the course of the next year.

As we have discussed, due to the adjustment in your grant term, we will be ending your current grant prior to the start of your next grant term, which will be 1 September (pending executive approval).

Final Approval

Hello, Art+Feminism team! Your grant has been approved in the amount of $150,000 for 12 months, with a grant term starting 1 September 2018 and ending 31 August 2019. Your midpoint report will be for the first nine months of your grant (1 September - 30 April), and will be due 15 May. Your final report will be due 30 August.

Finally, as discussed, we will need to end your current grant on 31 August in order to start your new grant term. This means that your final report for your current grant will be due 30 September, and you will need to return any remaining funds to WMF at that time.
