Hello Mikael Häggström, and thanks for your proposal for these funding needs for the WikiJournal User Group between Jan-May 2021. Here are my questions and comments:

  • Please update the grant start date to 10 May 2021-- we're unfortunately not able retroactively fund work through Rapid Grants, as the program is intended to support proposed future work, not reimbursement for past expenses.
  • The date is now updated to May 10, 2021 (and the end date to June 30 since the Simple Grant application coverage date was changed from June 1 to July 1.
  • In relation to my comments on your 2020 report, are there any potential obstacles or issues you foresee that may prevent you from being able to hire a technical editor during the grant period in the next month? If so, what will you be doing to address those issues?
  • From the planning so far the technical editor hiring will go as planned. As per the mentioned report, the trial hiring of a technical editor elucidated what more needed to be done. The community has approved 6 people to perform the technical editor tasks, sharing activities corresponding up to one full-time job, as per Wikiversity:WikiJournal_User_Group/Technical_editors. They will have formal employment contracts. WikiJournal will also attain necessary employer coverage.
  • Is the requested funding for $1176.51 intended to support six technical editors for part-time work, or is this a future request for the user group's Simple APG?
  • The $1176.51 will cover part time work for any tasks performed before the Simple APG comes into effect.
  • Importantly, because the WikiJournal User Group is also applying for a Simple APG, it is important that the proposed work around outreach and hiring be completed before the end of the grant period, as we want to make sure obligations in one grant program are generally complete before transitioning to a new grant. If the proposed work here is delayed for any reason, it will also delay your ability to receive additional funds if your Simple APG proposal is approved. I want to confirm that you are confident that the proposed end date of 31 May is manageable for this proposed work.
  • I did switch it to June 30 as mentioned above, and I do think WikiJournal will make use of the funds before that date, and I am aware that any surplus may affect our future ability to receive funds.

Please let me know if you have any questions. With thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 22:15, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
