  1. What plan do you have in place to recruit 40 photographers for this initiative?
  2. In past initiatives involving professional photographers, they have not always been supportive of the idea of uploading photographs for free, with open licenses. What is your plan to address this?
  3. Can you please share a list of the locations that you plan to include in the photowalks? We are trying to build a case of why it is important to devote movement resources to add them to Commons.
  4. You mention that there will be 10 experienced editors in the workshop. Can you please list them and/or chime in this discussion or on the endorsements of the grant request?
  5. Can you please walk us through the program for your workshop? How long it will last, what the session will be like.

I am a professional photographer and a member of the Lagos State Professional Photographer Association of Nigeria. This project has been extensively discussed in our various meetings. In fact more than 60 photographers have shown interest but we just want to restrict the numbers to 40. Kaizenify (talk)

Yes, you are correct. Some photographers don't like to release their works for free partly because they are not familiar with various licenses under which they can release their works or they want to earn money or honorarium for their works. But this project has been extensively discussed with them and the idea of uploading their works for free with open license was embraced by over 60 of them. Hello, Kaizenify; thank you for addressing my questions. Could you provide more details about the services that have given you the quotes for the transportation and food? Through a simple search online we found transportation services that cost half the amount that is presented in the grant proposal and we are trying to understand the rationale for this. Answer to further comments from WMF

MMontes (WMF), thanks for your question. N3,000 (9.83 USD) was budgeted for breakfast and lunch for each photographer. So, N3,000 is the cost of food per photographer per day. This includes refreshment.

For transportation, N100,000 was estimated per bus. This estimate was based on a discussion with two different bus owners in my location. The first person I met insisted that it would not cost less than N80,000 per bus. The second person said considering that the bus would convey people to different locations, it would cost N120,000 per bus. It was based on this we estimated the cost of transportation. We contacted this transportation services via telephone calls since it looks like we could get it for N40,000 based on the information provided on the advert website. But the lady (Chichi) who spoke to us said the N40,000 we saw on the website was for a trip, from A to B location. That is, if we want to convey people from one location to another. For example from Oshodi to Ikorodu. That since they would be conveying photographers to multiple locations, it will cost N90,000 per bus and that seems like a good option.   1. I notice that the project dates on your proposal only encompass the event itself. You may want to revise this because we can only fund expenses that happen within the project dates.
  2. As you do that revision (if necessary), please do a final read through of the application to see if there are ay modifications you want to do or details you want to add.
