Comments from DSaroyan (WMF)[edit]

Marhaba Michel Bakni, thank you for submitting this Rapid Fund application. I have a few questions and requests after reviewing the proposal:

  • Could you please confirm that you will be able to send the prizes to all Arab communities if needed?
  • Are you planning to run one writing and photos contests? If yes, then we will not fund 2,100 USD for prizes because we think that this amount is higher from what we have approved for other local contests with similar engagement. We recommend 1,000 USD for prizes. Please reduce the prize expenses and update the total requested budget.
  • Please add specific start and end dates for your grant. These are important for grant processing.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 10:48, 13 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Answer from Organizing Team[edit]

Hello dear Davit,

I am writing to you on behalf of the organizing team of the Arabic contest for Wiki Human Rights (as we are a team from many Arabic-speaking countries). Unfortunately, Michel has informed us last week that he would not be able to continue organizing the contest with us for personal reasons. We discussed this within the team, and now it will be Sandra who will manage the grant application, as well as the funds. She did already the change in the infobox.

Regarding your questions:

  1. Yes. After discussing with the team, they confirmed that the prizes can be sent to all Arab communities, given the knowledge of the local context that each have of their area.
  2. We are planning to run 2 writing contests and a photo contest. The writing contests will have 500 USD each, and the photo contest will be having 400 USD in total. Please check the updated grant proposal to see the changes.
  3. There are start and end dates in the infobox, but they were 2 months ( May-June 2022). We have changed it now to 1 May - 31 July 2022 to have a more precise date.

We hope that this clarifies the picture for you, and wish you a good end of your weekend! Best - Anass Sedrati (talk) 13:34, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Reporting an expected delay in report[edit]

Dear Davit,

Our Competitions work good, everything working according to how we organize it. Even we wrote the report. But we are now facing a little obstacle with prizes. I have been in touch with Amazon since the 29th of June for getting Gift Cards, but my accounts are on hold since then. I am in contact with them to resolve the issue. Could you please give us more time to finish all the related tasks and complete the project successfully?

Waiting for your reply, please feel free to ping me for any clarification. --Sandra HANBO (talk) 19:02, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Sandra Hanbo, thanks for the update and I'm sorry to hear that you have to postpone the activities. I have reviewed and formally approved it. The new grant end date is 31 July 2022, and the final report is due on 31 August 2022. Let me know if you need more time to complete the activities.
