Hi Prithee P, thank you for submitting your grant application. After reviewing your grant proposal, we have some questions to learn more about the project and planned activities.

  • What content about SDGs do you plan to contribute? Could you please provide a few examples?
  • How would you keep the participants active after your tours? What are your strategies?
  • What do you and the team hope to learn when implementing the project?
  • What do you hope to contribute by visiting different hubs in person? How would your on site visit make the project more impactful?
  • Have you discussed this project with your community members in advance?
  • Given that you plan to offer swags to all participants, please reduce the per person swag budget to 10 USD.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks for your time, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 15:08, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@DSaroyan (WMF) Firstly, thank you for such thoughful question and your interest in the project.
  • I bear in mind that the goals are comprehensive and a bit broad however the goal remains to create awareness of the 17 SDGs goals. This project's objective is to train new members and focus on improving the quality on already existing articles before easing them into creating article later on. Some articles are too long, no pictures/too many pictures, not comprehensive enough among others. In other not to be lost, I am already compling a list of SDG related articles that needs updating and a list of flagged articles. Also, I have complied a list of article lacking citation and here it is [1].
  • I are aware that over the years keeping editors active have been a slight challenge and this can be associated with lack of a detailed long term strategy. Thus I took this into consideration while planning for this project. I believe this tour would make the participants to be grounded and equipped with needed knowledge before September. One of my plans is to have different communities take part in the global goal week coming up in September which will be an avenue for different participants to join to make contributions towards the actualisation of the global goals.
  • We have a mix of experienced and inexperienced members and I hope the later can learn from the former. The team would also be learning how to manage a large WIkipedia community physically and virtually. For example, a lot of the teams members are more experienced with physical events. I am hoping they could learn from this, as a virtual event would save us on time, travel costs, and other expenses. It would be great to help inexperienced team members develop their public speaking. Furthermore, learning to work with diversity as we would be coordinating volunteers from three different cities.
  • This is an interesting question. Firstly, I do not plan on visiting different hubs in person. I was hoping when the project starts, I and fellow facilitators would decide on who will be going depending on the event needs. Secondly, among the listed universities, only one(Lasu) has a hub as of now. I assume Kwasu is presently trying to build their hub and Lautech has never had a Wikipedia event. I hope you see why an on site visit would make the project more impactful.
  • Here, I recently dropped a notification to let my local community members know about the project. Hopefully, more experienced editors/facilitators will volunteer to help once the project preparation begins.
  • Thank you for the suggestion but I would greatly appreciate if the prices can remain as it is as it will deter the quality of the sourvenirs/swags for the participants.
Let me know if you need clarity on anything else. Prithee P (talk) 20:07, 3 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hello Prithee P, thanks for your comprehensive response.
  • Thanks for having a clear plan of contribution and engagement!
  • I appreciate that you engage other team members and contribute to their capacity building.
  • As I mentioned above, we will not approve 1,125 USD of swag budget for this project. I'm sorry but I have to ask you to reduce it as requested.

Change of school[edit]

We discovered that one of the academic institutions selected, specifically Lautech, is not rendering its full cooperation. Furthermore, we found no experienced editor to work with and ways to reach out to the school have proved futile as there is an ongoing strike. I have tried to work my way around it however it seems it might be best we opt for another school.

I would like to change the school from Lautech to Unilag. Prithee P (talk) 16:05, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Dear Prithee P, thanks for notifying us about this change and I'm sorry to hear that one of the schools don't want to work with you. I approve this change. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 16:33, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
