Hello Wiki Asmah and روتانا, and thanks for your proposal supporting a new contest focused on better coverage of Asian cuisine on Wikimedia Commons. Unfortunately, we will not be able to fund the proposal as described at this time. The main reason for this is that the expected impact from this competition is too low to consider funding in terms of expected participants, the amount of investment required, and that the impact is limited to outcomes on Wikimedia Commons given the broader goals of the project. Some other concerns include:

• While your on-wiki experience is clear, the proposal does not include clear information on what your background is with organizing Wikimedia-related events and projects.
• Confusion around this statement, as the proposal is not likely to have an appreciable impact with respect to SEO or redirecting search results: If we look at Google SEO on Asian Food/Asian Cuisine, often the images cover multiple dishes instead of singling out specific dishes to tell viewers what the dish is about. If one wants to learn, they have to be redirected to the uploaders’ website. This is a gap where this contest will be beneficial. We can use this opportunity to redirect internet users to the Wikimedia Commons to view images of high-quality Asian cuisine images and increase traffic to Wikipedia when they want to learn further about the dishes.
• Related to the size of the competition, the event depends too heavily on prize incentives and staffing for it to be successful. Movement funds should primarily be used to support volunteer engagement.
• In terms of your target audience, the proposal notes that the target participants for this project include the diaspora communities worldwide. It's not clear what communities this refers to.
• Finally, in your last Rapid Fund proposal, I made some recommendations including 1) narrowing the scope of the proposal to a small number of communities, 2) working more closely with affiliates that you are associated with. It's not clear from this proposal that either of those recommendations were considered in preparing this request.
