[edit]Hello @Silentwinner,
Thank you for your application. Your application is being reviewed by the ESEAP Regional Funds Committee and Programme Officer, with inputs from Wikimedia Indonesia. Here are some questions that we require more information.
Thank you for taking a moment to respond.
Regards, Jacqueline

1) We are aware that you have a similar project that was submitted via mini grant to Wikimedia Indonesia.
1a) Could you share how this application is similar, different from that of the mini grant project? What areas of innovation can we learn from your project? And how will your project contribute to building a thriving community of volunteers or contributors to the wikimedia movement in Indonesia?
1b) From your previous experience in implementing the project, were there potential challenges (e.g. challenges in accessing accurate data, technical barriers in Wikidata contributions, or logistical issues during fieldwork in West Papua), how did you manage?
1c) Would you also be able to explain in more detail what is the value of your project and why this project is important and who would need access to this type of data? How will you ensure that all data added to Wikidata adheres to notability and verification guidelines?
2) On learning and evaluation, Are there any plans to replicate this project model for other underrepresented regions in Indonesia after this initial run in West Papua? How does this project plan to engage the local community, beyond data collection, to ensure sustainability and long-term impact? How will you measure the success of your learning objectives by the end of the project?
3) How will the project ensure participation from diverse communities within West Papua particularly in engaging educators or community members from the target schools? Are there plans to involve Wikimedia Indonesia and additional Indonesian Wikimedia communities outside of West Papua or experts in West Papua to review the contributions for quality and completeness?
General comments/suggestions from the ESEAP Funds Committee that you can consider and respond to.
4) The applicant could specify what they hope to learn regarding best practices for data verification, community engagement, or multimedia contributions on Wikimedia platforms. It may be helpful to preemptively document the criteria for notability and reference sources to ensure seamless Wikidata integration.
5) By using the Portal Data Pendidikan as a source, the entries are supported by credible references, enhancing their legitimacy on Wikidata. The six targeted statements (e.g., P31: instance of, P131: located in administrative territorial entity, P625: coordinate location) ensure the entries meet Wikidata's standards for meaningful and verifiable data. Closing this gap by adding six specific statements (P31, P131, P571, P17, P6375, P625) for 582 schools on Wikidata and uploading 100 images to Wikimedia Commons.
6) The project aims to contribute structured, verifiable data to Wikimedia platforms, which aligns with the broader goal of addressing knowledge inequity for underrepresented regions.
7) However, while the applicant articulates clear goals for contribution, the "learning" aspect could benefit from more explicit framing.
- For instance: They could reflect on challenges they may encounter (e.g., data inconsistencies from external sources) and how overcoming these would shape their expertise in community-driven data initiatives.
- Insights into how this project might inform future Wikimedia contributions (e.g., scaling this model to other regions) would further showcase the learning intent.

- Thank you for your feedback. The idea for this project came from the results of research that I have done in a research activity entitled Building a Knowledge Base of Educational Infrastructure in West Papua from Wikidata. In this study, the initial subject of the study was schools at the kindergarten to high school levels, but after data processing, it turned out that kindergarten data in West Papua was not available on Wikidata. This is part of my research output that there are 582 kindergarten school data that are not available on Wikidata. Therefore, my team and I took the initiative to submit a project to enter kindergarten school data on Wikidata where the data source used as a source is the DAPODIK Portal. In addition, we also proposed to enter 100 photo documentation of kindergarten schools to Wikicommons. Although there are 582 schools, we only entered 100 images due to remote areas and costs that do not allow us to reach all schools, so we chose 100 schools that could be reached.
- Based on discussions with the team, we see the importance of school data, so in our opinion, the completeness of the School (TK) data on Wikidata will greatly affect the description of the school on Wikipedia. In addition, the completeness of the data that we add to Wikidata will provide significant information on the accuracy of the information we obtain from various sources. We greatly hope that this activity will continue in the Province of West Papua in helping to complete school data that is not yet on Wikidata as well as school documentation that is not yet on Wikicommons. In the data editing process, we have involved communities from several professions. In addition, we involve students in data collection and also in the data editing process. We really hope that at some point there will be collaboration with Wikimedia Indonesia or communities outside West Papua. Silentwinner (talk) 19:03, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
