WikiCitaRasa aims to enrich the content of Wikibooks Indonesia with traditional Indonesian culinary recipes. The project focuses on cultural heritage by documenting and sharing traditional Indonesian recipes, many of which are not widely accessible online. By focusing on regional cuisines, the proposal aims to bridge the gap in content about Indonesian food culture on global platforms, ensuring that diverse voices and knowledge are represented. Then, for the last, the proposal or this project is good to enrich our knowledge about typical Indonesian food recipes. Good luck.
--Adhmi (talk) 07:35, 4 March 2025 (UTC)

Follow-up question on your application
[edit]Hello @Raflinoer32,
Thank you for your application. Your application is being reviewed by the ESEAP Regional Funds Committee and Programme Officer, with inputs from Wikimedia Indonesia. Here are some questions that we require more information.
Thank you for taking a moment to respond.
Regards, Jacqueline
--
1) As an experienced team of movement organisers, editing experience and working with communities working on this project, have you thought about documenting your knowledge and mentoring newer movement organisers and communities to grow? How can you incorporate parts of this into your project?
2) How do you think your project will contribute to building more active and thriving communities? Have you noticed a difference in communities that you work with to implement projects?
3) For learning and evaluation, is there also a way to track how popular the content that you are creating is? For example, readership to the content contribution from your projects.
3a) On the same subject, are you able to also include contributions to wikipedia? JChen (WMF) (talk) 01:48, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- Dear @JChen (WMF),
- Thank you very much for reviewing our proposal. Below are our responses to your follow-up questions.
- 1) We will create learning materials in the form of presentation slides on how to contribute to Wikibooks and its guidelines during the training. These materials will also be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license, allowing training participants and anyone else to access and study them freely.
- Additionally, we will propose a collaboration with Wikimedia Indonesia (WMID) to hold a Bincang Komunitas (Community Talk), which is conducted monthly, to introduce and educate the local community in Indonesia about the WikiCitaRasa project.
- Then, we will also upload event posters and documentation reports on the local community's social media accounts. In this regard, we will utilize the collaboration feature between the Instagram account of the Wikimedia Bandung Community (@suwikipedia) and the local community accounts involved in this project. For reference, similar uploads were made for the lexeme and luthor training organized by the Indonesian Wikisource Community (@wikisource.id), for example (1) and (2).
- 2) As I have written in the proposal, we will collaborate with 6 (six) local communities in Indonesia that have a large number of members. This initiative aims to introduce the Wikibooks project and educate them on how to contribute to Wikibooks by writing about Indonesian culinary recipes. We see great potential in these 6 (six) communities to further develop content on Wikibooks, particularly in the culinary field.
- The key differences we have analyzed among the communities we are partnering with is their local knowledge of cuisine in their respective regions. We will select recipe article topics that are closely related to the training locations so that participants can develop these recipe contents using their local expertise. This approach aligns with Wikibooks’ writing guidelines, which allow users to share their ideas alongside referencing sources. As a result, the content produced will be more authentic and impactful in documenting local culinary heritage.
- At the same time, we have observed that Wikibooks has received limited support from Wikimedia Indonesia. As a local chapter, Wikimedia Indonesia has yet to provide offline training on Wikibooks writing, making the project relatively unknown and lacking contributors. Throughout the GSF24 program, there have been no offline Wikibooks writing training sessions, as seen in GSF24 WikiLatih Semester I and GSF24 WikiLatih Semester II. However, local Wikimedia communities in Indonesia have significant potential to contribute to and expand its content.
- Through the WikiCitaRasa project, we aim to initiate a movement to introduce and encourage more volunteers to contribute to Wikibooks. We believe this project can enhance the engagement and contributions of local community volunteers in Wikimedia projects, particularly Wikibooks. Furthermore, contributing to Wikibooks is more accessible compared to Wikipedia, allowing volunteers greater flexibility in exploring their own contributions.
- 3) In addition to using the Outreach Dashboard and Likert scale-based evaluation forms, we can also utilize the Pageviews WMCloud to support the learning and evaluation process. Through this feature, we can track the number of viewers or the readership of the articles produced by this project. We will compare pageviews each month while the project is ongoing and for three months after its completion.
- 3a) Culinary recipe content on Wikibooks differs from that on Wikipedia. On Wikibooks, authors are not strictly required to adhere to reference sources. They can also express their original ideas and concepts in their content. In other words, users have greater freedom to explore and develop content on Wikibooks. This is different from Wikipedia, where content must adhere to the Five Pillars guidelines. Apart from content differences, we also face time constraints, making it unfeasible to fully transfer content from Wikibooks to Wikipedia at this stage.
- As a solution, we can enhance the project's contributions by adding the template

in the Wikipedia, similar to how it is used in the Tahu Gejrot article on Wikipedia (see the Pranara luar section).
- Thank you.
- Best regards,
- Raflinoer32 (talk) 03:32, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

[edit]I endorsed this proposal since the proposal will benefits Wikibooks Indonesia. I completely agree with the description that Wikibooks Indonesia does not have a really active community as far as I know. Besides, I personally does not really understand how and what I can contribute to Wikibooks.
The project will introduce Wikibooks to more potential contributors, either for those that new to Wiki or those that already familiar to other projects. Besides, another objective that it brings, which is to preserve food recipes in several region in Indonesia, in line with the objectives of Wikimedia movement in general. This kind of knowledge may be harder to preserve nowadays due to more trending foods appear and lack of cooking skills in some people nowadays.
As the closing statement, I hope that this project runs as expected as this project will benefit the community in Indonesia and, if can be translated to other languages, can also benefit the global community in the long run. The people that propose this project also has a great track records on running similar project. In the end, I am confident to the project and have a high hopes that it can be done through the support of Wikimedia Foundation itself.

[edit]I endorse this project due to align with our wikimedia community value. This program is really useful to conserve Indonesian traditional cuisine which mostly abandoned from our society especially from big city in Indonesia. Even there are many similar project, I believe this project can brace the original value itself by community approachment.
Since Wikibooks is not outstanding compared with another wiki projects such as Wikipedia, Wikicommons, Wikidata, etc. By this project, we also introduce Wikibooks to the society especially in communal environment. Big movement comes from small leap. So, good luck!

This project is a good effort to preserve Indonesian culture by documenting Indonesian local food recipes! The strategies look like they have been adjusted to fit the Wiki communities in Indonesia, so I am optimistic about the expected results. The person leading this has a lot of experience with Wiki projects in Indonesia, which definitely strengthens the project. The project also has strong potential for community engagement, and I think it will do good in bringing in new contributors, especially those who have culinary interests. The project proposal is detailed and shows thoughtful planning so I would not be too worried about it. Overall, I endorse this project because it has a lot of potential for both community development and content enrichment!

- Dear @JChen (WMF),
- I would like to confirm that I have revised the budget accordingly and submitted it on Fluxx. Additionally, I would like to inform you that I will be replacing the two previously targeted cities, Medan and Padang, with Banjarmasin and Makassar. This adjustment aims to enhance the diversity of the project's outcomes by incorporating Indonesian culinary recipes from different islands. Moreover, both cities have a strong Wikimedia community, which will contribute to the success of this project.
- Thank you.
