Endorsement from Bukky658 (talk)[edit]

I extend my full endorsement for the proposed "Wikimedia Skills for Librarians in Kaduna State University, Kaduna - Nigeria" initiative, by Ramatu; a dedicated Wikimedian and librarian who has proven her capability through active participation in numerous trainings I facilitated.

Project Significance This initiative is set to be a cornerstone in propagating open knowledge in the academic realm of Nigeria, leveraging the rich resource base of Kaduna State University. It holds a significant promise in bridging knowledge gaps, enhancing the credibility of Wikimedia content through verifiable sources and encouraging the contribution of culturally rich and diverse Nigerian content to the global knowledge base.

Proposal Strengths With clearly outlined strategies focused on training librarians and students to contribute reliable and credible sources to Wikimedia, the project stands as a well-rounded approach to enhance both content quantity and quality on the platform. Furthermore, its innovative perspective on increasing participation in the 1Lib1Ref campaign from a presently underrepresented region adds a commendable edge to the proposal.

Coherence and Expectations The initiative presents a coherent strategy, underlined by practical objectives and promising substantial results in terms of content enhancement and community growth within Wikimedia in northern Nigeria.

I am confident that Ramatu Haliru and her team's endeavour will not only fulfil its objectives but set a precedent for future projects, fostering a richer, more reliable, and inclusive Wikimedia space. Bukky658 (talk) 09:47, 12 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

==Not Funded==

Hello @Inyor4mr thank you for applying for the rapid fund grant. We reviewed your grant application and decided to not fund your application at this time. We strongly recommend that the team coordinates with the other team working on this project - Wiki For Librarians In FCE Zaria Kaduna. This project plan has very similar activities and targets the same communities you are seeking to engage.

Here is some feedback that you might all consider as you work towards a coordinated and potentially more impactful effort;

  • While the intention is clear, it would strengthen your proposal to specify the expected outcomes in more detail. For instance, what specific topics do you hope participants would edit or create articles on? It is important to have clearly defined and achievable goals.
  • Your plan to conduct an awareness drive, training sessions, and an edit-a-thon is commendable. To enhance your proposal, consider elaborating on your strategies for engaging participants before, during, and after the activities. How will you maintain their interest and motivation?
  • Consider providing more details regarding the nature of collaboration with the groups mentioned. How will they support your project? Will they provide mentoring, technical assistance, or resources?
  • Although the project involves students, it's important to consider their safety and well-being. Even if they are not minors, ensure that you have measures in place to create a safe and respectful environment during the events. Mention any codes of conduct or guidelines that will be followed to ensure a positive experience for all participants.

Best of luck with your project!
