Follow-up Questions and Observations on your grant application[edit]

Hello @Tarunno,

Thank you for putting in your grant application. Here are the consolidated questions, comments and observations from the reviewers. Would you be able to provide a response to them? Thank you. --

Feedback on activities proposed:

1) The proposal is detailed and outlines important efforts towards enhancing the capacity of the community in Bangladesh and increase engagement in the country. The proposed activity is well aligned with the projects objectives.

2) The proposal mentions collaboration with the potential partners. How does the team plan to identify and plan long term engagement with these partners?

3) How does the project envision ensuring that the capacity-building efforts and community engagement initiatives have a lasting impact beyond the duration of this grant?

4) In the Q7, the applicant mentioned “Hosting multiple Wiki Meetups” as one of the activity. However, there is no budget line mentioned for the same activity.

Feedback on the budget

5) There is lot of activities for the given budget. It’s always better to have some overheads and misclanious cost kept in the budget line which I see currently missing here. Is this due to prioritisation of budget due to upper limit of the grant?

Recommendation/ Comments

6) How does the team plan to evaluate the success of the project? Outlining some strategies for evaluating the success of the project would help in measuring outcomes. Would you be able to elaborate more?

Metrics

7) The learning questions that you have listed at question 17 comes across as very comprehensive and it would be good to keep these in mind as you put together your final report. These will be useful learnings for other affiliates who are undergoing the same growth trajectory as yours.

Thank you.

Hello @JChen (WMF),
Thanks for the questions. The answers are as follows -
A2) In this project our primary plan to identify the potential parties or institution who already have some knowledge contents which can add value to Wikimedia Projects. To do this we will try to engage with educational institutions, libraries and individual topic focus clubs (for example club of bird watchers). Our plan is to build a trusting relationship by making greater awareness of the mission and vision of the Wikimedia Movement and how it help to enable the easier access to knowledge that help thousands of people by establishing more knowledge equity. We are hopeful that with this greater awareness, will will be able to foster a long and sustainable partnership with these parties.
A3) We feel that the community needs more skilled and motivated volunteers as well as more leaders in the movement. Our plan is to host more skill workshops and regular in-person meetups. We believe these activities will help them get more skills and boost their motivations. We also planned events like Photo walks, Workshops and WikiCamps. We want to use these events as a platform for the volunteers to get a chance to improve their organizing capabilities which eventually will lead to create better and insightful leaders for the community in the future.
A4) We already allocated budget for this. It is in Line 9 on the budget sheet under the line heading "Refreshments for Wiki Meetups in various cities in Bangladesh". The local meetups usually happens on open public spaces like Library premises or near by parks or open restaurants. Therefore additional budget for rental for spaces will not be necessary for this round.
A5) Yes, upper limit of the grant was the main limitation.
A6) Our primary strategy of evaluation will be evaluating the impact of our activities. We want to recruit more volunteers as well as to motivate the previously active volunteers who are not active currently. Also we want more organizers and leader for the future events. We will be measuring the number of new participants and old participants. As well as how many new volunteers get motivated and willing to take more responsibilities as organizers. We also want to measure the real impact in the Wiki projects as well. These leanings we help us to plan for the next steps for the future activities.
Thank You.
