Follow-up questions on your application

[edit]

Hello @Liangpin77/ Island Image Co-creation Society,

Thank you for your application. Your application is being reviewed by the ESEAP Regional Funds Committee and Programme Officer, with inputs from Wikimedia Taiwan. Here are some questions that we require more information.

Thank you for taking a moment to respond.

Regards, Jacqueline

--

1a) Could you speak to your/your organisation's experience participating or collaborating with the Wikimedia movement locally? How do you think this project will further the goals of your organisation as well as open access to data on a subject matter that is of interest to a wider audience? If you have some data to accompany your sharing about the importance of the subject matter, it would be most helpful.

As mentioned over our call, we also have an eligibility criteria that was flagged by the Grants Administration team during the eligibility check phase and this was also an observation that is pointed out by the ESEAP funds committee member(s) reviewing your application:

* Have current contribution history and experience on the target Wikimedia project(s) mentioned in your grant application. You also need to have organizing experience or training experience. For example, if you are planning to train newcomers on Wikidata, you must demonstrate editing and training history on Wikidata.

1b) As a newly registered participant to the wikimedia movement, could you share about you/your team's plan to fulfil the terms of the proposed project? Would Wikimedia Taiwan also be a collaborator for your project? If yes, could you share more about your intention/ preliminary plans?

1c) I am also pinging @Allenwang6212a here so he can also add onto the conversation as needed. @Allenwang6212a, do let us know when you have also completed the submission of your final report related to an open grant (Wikidata) as we will require your report before we can publish the outcome of this grant application. @Allenwang6212a, as the lead wikimedian who is supporting the project, could you provide more details on how involved you will be in the mentoring and execution of this project? What are you committing to?

1d) On a similar thread, could you share the traffic of your website and/or any social media accounts? and

1e) Could you share the criteria for selecting 10 Taiwanese female photographers from the Lightbox collection?

2a) Related to your proposed budget, could you share your plans about venue fee? Given the size of workshop 1 and 2 (i.e. for internal team), can we use your existing office venue/ working space for these trainings? Alternatively, we also understand that Wikimedia Taiwan also has an open community space in Taipei that is funded by the Open Culture Foundation. The open community can use it free of charge and is welcome to make good use of the resource. Is this an alternative venue that you can consider?

2b) As a collaborator on this project, what type of in-kind contributions (or resources) will you/ your team be offering to the partnership? Would you be able to share more?

2c) We understand that this is a first pilot project. What would a longer term commitment and partnership with the Wikimedia movement look like for you and how do you think this first phase could set you up to build a more sustainable volunteer base to take this project forward in the longer term?

3a) Related to the three workshops that you are organising, while the intent is to build the Wikidata skills within the Lightbox team, what other additional benefits/impact can we anticipate for the wider Wikidata community in Taiwan (e.g. learnings from the process/ access or use of data etc)? Could you elaborate more so that we can understand the wider community impact of your project?

3b) Also related to the format of your workshop, is there a reason why the third workshop is open to the public? Based on our understanding in consultation with Wikimedia Taiwan, open sessions serves more of an awareness building function with limited space or time for more technical aspects of the operations, and hence these sessions are also arranged earlier in the series of activities. Could you elaborate on the considerations behind your design/thinking around the sessions?

  • Instagram:
