for translation[edit]

Hello! I'm trying to translate this page into Japanese. May I ask you why you chosed the word, "Lightweight" with the capital L? I read the page, but I can't figure out, so I'm afraid my translation would be wrong. Thanks! YShibata (talk) 09:23, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello thank you for the support to translate. Lightweight - refers to making it a simple or straightforward process. We have received feedback that the current process is too heavy without providing additional value. So we are trying to change the process. KEchavarriqueen (WMF) (talk) 17:02, 2 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

A proposal for your consideration[edit]

Thank you so much for sharing the proposed changes. They look very reasonable. I would like to add something else for your consideration. One thing that I have not seen addressed on this page and that I believe has been very frustrating as a grantee-seeker has been when key deadlines have not been met. As grantee-seekers, it is (logically) demanded that we respect and comply with every single requirement and deadline. It is extremely frustrating when the regional committees do not respect the deadlines set for the process. If the community feedback period is from X to X+2, it should be exactly that and not forever open ended. If we are told that we should expect the committee to share its feedback by X date, it should happen by X date. If we are told to expect a decision by Y date, it should happen by Y date. It is very unprofessional when that does not happen, and nothing on this page addresses this current situation in which we are expected to be continuously available beyond the original expected periods for which we do plan for (not to mention how it impacts our planning when the funds finally arrive months later than the expected date). Given how easy it would be to prevent this kind of uncertainty and overall bad experience, I think it is worth investing some effort to make sure the process is as smooth and professional as possible. Thanks in advance, PatriHorrillo (talk) 17:13, 3 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you PatriHorrillo for this important proposal and sharing your experience. Following the expected timeline for each round is definitely the goal and when it does not happen impacts our grantee-partners. If for an unforeseen reason it is not possible, it should be communicated and any impact for applicants should be understood.
On a separate note, we do offer some level of flexibility for applicants on timelines. We understand sometimes there are circumstances that are very specific. If an applicant needs some flexibility, the best thing to do is reach out to the Program Officer to discuss. KEchavarriqueen (WMF) (talk) 13:57, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Well considered changes[edit]

Thank you to Kassia and the team for the proposed changes to the General Support Fund. I think they all look very sensible and helpful. I appreciate the consideration that has been put into refining the process, following feedback from grantees (and presumably others). LucyCrompton-Reid (WMUK) (talk) 18:57, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
