A few questions about the content of this report
[edit]Thank you for your activity reports; we would like to follow up on a few points. Please address them here on this talk page.
- Would you mind clarifying the thinking behind WMAT's involvement in ICANN: how is this related to WMAT's mission and what activities will you be involved with?
- As a non-profit, private-sector corporation, ICANN ([1]) is dedicated to preserving the operational stability of the Internet; to promoting competition; to achieving broad representation of global Internet communities; and to developing policy through private-sector, bottom-up, consensus-based means. WMAT is a member of ICANN At Large Program ([2]), a new way for Internet users from all over the globe to participate directly in the ICANN process. The At Large Membership program is an experiment, giving interested individuals a means to be informed about and connected to the policymaking structure for the Internet. The membership enable WMAT ([3]) to actively contribute to the policymaking structure regarding the following topics, which are also part of WMAT's mission:
- net neutrality
- fair access to internet ressources
- making sure that internet governance respects public interests

Our ICANN contact is our board member Manuel Schneider, who is also member of ICANN EURAC board ([4]). The membership of ICANN At Large Program does not require any funds or fees from WMAT. --Claudia.Garad (talk) 09:23, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- In January you mention planning for brochures: was this plan ever executed and were the brochures produced?
- we produced several different brochures. a small one for basic facts in contributing to wikipedia, one for the goals and projects of WMAT, one for the "Ortsbildmesse" and one for Wiki loves monuments. we can provide you with the printed-files, if needed.
- WikiKina: would you provide us with a brief summary of this project along with some details about WMAT's involvement (or include an applicable link). (We do understand that the project was supported by WMDE and then cancelled later in the year.)
- we grantet the organizing team EUR 2000,-- for overall expenses, if the project would have been done. additionally we would have supported Austrian attendees with the travel. Since, as you point out, WMDE withdrew their funding, we didn´t fund our part too.
- What is Wikicup 2012? Would you provide us with a link?
- Would you please include a link to the category on commons that contains the photos produced through the photography project in Vienna you mention in the March report if it was executed?
- here is the category: [7] at the moment approx. 5600 pictures there. still a lot more of them to come soon, since we only have a hand full of photographers, who have to upload all the pictures, what causes some delay. we are proud of the fact, that there are a lot of unique moments captured. here you find most of the events of this project in a list on our members-wiki: [8]
Thanks! Wolliff (talk) 19:24, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- i´ll answer the other questions asap, but since it was quite an exhausting day, and its late now, i´ll continue tomorrow. regards, --Kulac (talk) 20:10, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
March report contains redundant information
[edit]We noticed that the report for March 2012 contains some information copied from February 2012, so you might want to clean that up! Wolliff (talk) 19:24, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- done, thx!
WikiWomen Camp
[edit]We are interested to know if WMAT found its support of / participation in WikiWomen Camp valuable and what some of the results of participation may have been. Wolliff (talk) 19:24, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- Due to the activities of WMAT the participation of women in all areas of community activities are increasing. At local meetings the percentage was increasing to at least 25%. So we offered the grants for the participation in WikiWomen Camp not only on our webpages and newsletters, but also to women attending these meetings. They felt very honoured and respected for having the opportunity to fly to Argentinia to take part of the process, but on the other hand no women had time to participate at a camp far away from Europe in May. Some of them decided to shift the date of visiting the New World to summer and took a grant to visit Wikimania in Washingtod D.C., where they attended workshops on similar issues. The reports they gave about the results were published and received attention by the media. If Austria and other countries would have cancelled the financial support of WikiWomen Camp due to the fact that nobody from their country was participating, the camp could have failed and that would have had a negative impact to all our activities of integrating more women to Wikimedia Projects. --Beppo.S (WMAT) (talk) 19:12, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
Report accepted
[edit]Thank you for the responses. This report is accepted.
It would be good if you uploaded the files for the brochures to Commons so that others might benefit, and linked to the files from this discussion page.
