[edit]- I do not understand correctly. Wiki loves Earth is in May-June. Do you organize a contest out of the international contest? --Ilario (talk) 07:50, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- I think they request funds for covering both the expenses that they made themselves during the contest and those that remain until all activities are completed.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 07:24, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you Kiril, yes, this is to fund the prizes and the award ceremony for the winners of the contest. --Fjmustak (talk) 15:40, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Additional information
[edit]Thanks for the submission. Congratulations for organising Wiki Loves Earth 2015 in Palestine! I am inclined to support this request but additional information is needed. Since this is a request for partially refunding the expenses made for a contest which already took place, it should be better if there is additional information regarding it, including more quantified results, achieved goals, things that went good and bad, lessons learned and link to the gallery of best photographs. Thanks.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 07:04, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. I will work on providing more details on the goals and achievements, as well as links to the winning submissions, etc. As I've mentioned below, we are postponing the awards ceremony to give us more time for fulfilling the grant requirements. As the grant request is for the prize money, holding the event really depends on approval. Otherwise, we'll have to come up with some other kind of recognition for the winners. --Fjmustak (talk) 15:40, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Measures of success—please don't say there aren't any. Just frame this as part of a bigger effort to increase x and y. And now is the time to decide on your hope in terms of increased numbers (of uploads, of regular editors, etc). Can you insert these into the application please?
And could you remove the italicised instructions from the application? Tony (talk) 07:45, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
- PS to Kacie's suggestion below about a measure of success for usage on WMF sites: you could build in a time "window" for achieving whatever number you hope for, for example, within three months (by the time your report is submitted, I guess). Also, I should say that measures of success are for your benefit as much as ours: they should be reasonable estimates of what you aim to achieve. No one will be critical just because you fall short, and it helps us to think about what we can learn from the project design and conduct. Tony (talk) 03:34, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you Tony. I will consult with the organizing team to come up with some reasonable expectations that will help us better plan for future contests. --Fjmustak (talk) 15:42, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hi User:Fjmustak and User:Tarawneh, it is exciting to see the first grant proposal from the Levant User Group. We understand that you were not aware that grants were available to pay for contest prizes until recently and are pleased to support your community. Please see our comments below and let us know if you have any questions.
- In the goals section it says the contest is focused on Tunisian protected natural sites. Could you update that to reflect your region?
- The goals section notes that the goals of the contest are to increase the quality and quantity of articles about protected natural sites, and to engage new users. Although the contest is over, the workshop and awards ceremony could be a good opportunity to do both.
- One measure of success you could add is the number of people you hope will attend the workshop, and of that group, the number of attendees who participated in WLE.
- Currently, none of the 220 images in the WLE Palestine 2015 category have been used on a WIkimedia project. You might consider teaching workshop participants how to add images to Wikimedia projects using media from the contests. Two potential measures of success from this would be an increase in number of contest images in use, or the number of new users from the contest who remain active after the contest has ended.
- Do you have any plans to engage contest participants after the awards ceremony to encourage them to continue to contribute?
We look forward to your response. Cheers! --KHarold (WMF) (talk) 23:35, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
Delay in awards ceremony
[edit]The awards ceremony will not be held on October 3rd as planned. This will provide us more time to fulfill the grant request. --Fjmustak (talk) 15:33, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
