[edit]Thanks for submitting your idea, Involving Engineering Students into Wikipedia, for the New Readers Inspire Campaign. In order to help develop your idea further, we want to ask you to respond to the following questions here on the discussion page. Please refer to this document, which contains examples and resources to help you answer these questions:
- 1. Describe one or two versions of this idea that are smaller than your initial one.
- My idea is to involve specifically Engineering Students of my University into Wikimedia Movement like involved them many wiki Projects which is related to our academic syllabus. As example i am in Electrical Engineering Department and We have Wiki Project Engineering / Electrical Engineering so i am planning to involve my batch mates into this. Though i have a taken a primary Workshop in my department. Here is the news on it.
version 1 : Make them more clear concept about Wikimedia Movement like how it works, Who are the volunteers, how its formed.
version 2 : Make them introduce how to Contribute like Basic guidelines to edit on Wikipedia, Uploading pictures in Commons, etc.
version 3 : After a certain period measuring the success rate of the Project.
- 2. List three assumptions about your project and why you think those assumptions are true (see the document for some examples).
- I may need official permission from my Department to run the Wiki Club.
- Perhaps the Department can proposed to include 2-5 faculties to the Project to insure the better Outcomes.
- The University may request for clarification the goal and objectives of the Project like how its useful for the Students.
- Perhaps the Department can proposed to include 2-5 faculties to the Project to insure the better Outcomes.
- I may need official permission from my Department to run the Wiki Club.
- 3. List three skills or resources you don’t have, that you need for this project to succeed.
- One Program designer to design the Project(better its from WMF staff).
- Expert opinion and guidelines those have already run this kind of Project before.
- Hardware resource: we have frequent internet support, Space, and other support from Our Department without any charge. But i personally requesting for a Good Configuration Laptop to run the Project(as i have desktop PC).
- 4. How can you determine if your project is successful?
- i will target a specific Articles list/number and also to new readers as a Outcomes of the Project. As example as mainly we will run the Project by the help of Electrical Engineering Department. I will make a list of 150/200 articles related Electrical Engineering. After a certain period like 6/8 month we can evaluate the success rate by calculating new articles or new readers.
Please contact me on my talk page if you have any questions. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 21:58, 9 February 2018 (UTC)

Rapid Grant applications due March 15th
[edit]Thanks for starting your idea with the New Readers Inspire Campaign. I'm Chris Schilling (User:I JethroBT (WMF)), a community organizer supporting the campaign.
If you think you may need funding for your idea, Rapid Grants are available for ideas submitted during this campaign. Grant applications for ideas related to new readers are due by March 15th, 2018 (23:59 GMT). You can convert your idea into a Rapid Grant proposal by clicking on the Expand into a Rapid Grant button at the bottom of your idea page. Please review the guidelines and criteria before starting your grant application. If you need help completing your grant application, please contact me at cschillingwikimedia.org.
While applications for Rapid Grants can normally be submitted at any time, we have implemented a deadline for ideas on this specific topic. The reason for this deadline is because we plan to develop specific criteria later in 2018 for grant applications related to new readers and awareness-building activities. The applicants and project plans we receive from you in the coming weeks will help us define these guidelines and set expectations for future work in inviting people to use Wikimedia projects generally.
Also, if you do not need funding but would like to discuss other questions or needs for your idea (such as on-wiki volunteers or advising), please feel free to contact me on my talk page or at cschillingwikimedia.org, and we can discuss your needs over e-mail or schedule a time to have a conversation about your needs over Skype / Hangouts / IRC. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) 15:47, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
