Outcome

[edit]
Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
I made one report in Portuguese language, in an attempt to reach a wider audience, for people of the Wikimedia projects universe and beyond. I think it is important, in order to attract more editors, to show that there is a living, breathing world of Wikimedians people who promote activities beyond the virtual world. As I write for a column that we write (UG Wikimedia in Brazil) every month inside the ARede Educa web portal, one of the largest organizations to promote studies on and renewed practices associated to education and technology in Brazil, I wrote this event report there. Subsequently I published it also in a scientific dissemination blog of a research center at the largest university in the country, as you may read it here.

Participant connections

[edit]

In this Wikimania I could regain Felix Nartey and meet Raphael Berchie, for example, both members of the Ghana user group. They are free knowledge enthusiasts and Raphael is one of the pioneers in his country to join the program known as Wikipedian in Residence, which in Brazil had the first officially recorded experience the work of David Alves, a scholarship linked to NeuroMat, where I work. I planned to put both in touch to share experiences regarding the program. I could also met Oren, from the Wikimedia Israel. We had a long and amazing conversation regarding to the use of Wikimedia projects under the scope of scientific dissemination and as soon I ha my texts done regarding to this, I will send him to share and continue to talk about this topic. Obviously Ibero wikimedians were also a contact. Denis, from Chile, provided me a long conversation regarding many activities inside Chile chapter and about Iberocoop, just like Santiago and Rubén, who told me about his work inside the Spanish Wimedia chapter. Finaly, I can report my very pleasureful conversation with Taketa, in which I became part of the Writing week/Cultural Heritage.

Anything else

I would like to say thanks to everyone involved and the ones who make Wikimania 2016 happen. Everything was so well organized, and thank for all the Esino Lario people for the kind reception.
