Outcome

[edit]
Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
I wrote a post on Commons:Village_pump summarizing my experiences, observations and presentations related to Commons I heard. See here.

Connections

[edit]

Making connections with other people, sharing my experiences and learning from others is the most important part of Wikimanias for me. During Wikimania I gave talk about usage of Wikidata on Commons, on writing smart infoboxes comparing Wikidata and data stored locally and on improving Wikidata by reconciling it with Commons data. The talk was attended by about 50 people. The number was mostly limited by the size of the room as there were no sits for many participants.

I met and talked at length with many people writing similar Lua codes on their wikis. Many of us do very similar things, but adapted for local project and this was a great opportunity to compare our efforts and learn from one another. One outcome was review and great feedback on some of my codes on Commons, resulting in several phabricator tickets: phabricator:T173339, phabricator:T173207, phabricator:T173194, phabricator:T142903, phabricator:T173194.

I also had several talks and brainstorming sessions with Foundation team responsible for implementing C:Commons:Structured data and we hope to collaborate more in the future as the project progresses.

I also did a lightning talk, discussing a mass file upload project I did. It was also well attended.
