Outcome

[edit]
Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
Add a link here to a blog post or newsletter you wrote about your participation afterwards, or to a meet-up you organized to share your experience with your local community.
I'm the one wearing stripes.

The first opportunity I had to share my experience with the local community was in a Wikimedia Argentina Board meeting that was held immediately after Wikimania. WMAR Board meetings are open to all of our members and are regularly attended by some of our most active volunteers.

I have also written two articles for the Wikimedia Argentina blog, which are also circulated in our social networks. One deals with the importance and impact of having had a new Wikimania in Latin America (http://www.wikimedia.org.ar/2015/08/05/wikimania-2015-wikimania-volvio-latinoamerica/). The other one, perhaps more practical, and directly linked to something I learned a lot about in Wikimania, aims to present the new translation tool to the Argentine and Spanish-speaking community (http://www.wikimedia.org.ar/2015/08/11/nueva-herramienta-traduccion-wikipedia/). There, I deal with things I learned particularly in ‘’Revolutionizing article creation using Content Translation’’ and from my direct practice in Spanish Wikipedia.

Connections

[edit]

I had an interview with Jonathan Curiel (WMF), with whom I talked about the importance of using metrics to measure the results of our projects. I also had a private conversation with Nikolas Becker (WMDE) on the Iberocoop experience, and the way in which inter-affiliate cooperation can strengthen their own development and their performance.

Editors from Spanish Wikipedia got together for a group photo like we did in 2009 in Buenos Aires.

I met with different people from Wikimedia France during the WMCON2015 follow-up sessions to discuss crowdfunding and applying for international funds. I joined the Volunteer Supporters Network as a result of the presentation facilitated by Raimund Liebert (WMAT), Veronika Krämer (WMDE) and Andy Cruz (WMMX). I also attended a presentation and had several private conversations with Yuri Astrakhan on how to build maps and graphics on Wikipedia. Thanks to Yuri I was able to learn about different tools that are being developed in/for the German Wikipedia and I started to think how to implement them in the Spanish Wikipedia.

I met many new people with whom I expect to work in the future, such as Máximo, a Mexican maths professor who is working at the Education Ministry of México City and plans to work with Wikimedia in the future.

And, of course, I was able to meet again with regular fellows from Iberocoop and the Spanish Wikipedia, old team mates in this adventure, colleagues and friends, such as Osmar; Iván, Carmen and Salvador from México; Rodrigo from Uruguay; María and Santi from Spain; Eduardo, Sarah, Juan David, Lily and Dennis from Chile; Ginevra from Italy; Martin and Corne from Germany; and many others I don’t name to avoid running out of space :).
