Outcome

[edit]
Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
Add a link here to a blog post or newsletter you wrote about your participation afterwards, or to a meet-up you organized to share your experience with your local community.
I have shared a countless number of experiences with the community back home through programs i have organized. Pictures from the conferences and ideas to be kickstarted as a result of my meeting with others across the globe. Three months after the conference i have also written a report on how Wikimania has impacted my new exploits and led me on a path to great collaborations. This report assesses what i have done so far as a result of my participation at Wikimania and what I intend to do in the coming year. Read more here
Option 2: Learning Pattern: What is one useful learning pattern you can share with the Wikimedia movement?
Add a link to a learning pattern - either a new pattern you created with insights from your participation, or an existing pattern to which you added your endorsement and some significant new "considerations" or “examples” from your experience.
Option 3: New Creation: What was one useful outcome that was created at the event for the Wikimedia movement?
Add a link to something new that was created as a result of your participation in this event (for example, you might link to a new tool that you and your co-participants worked on at the Hackathon, or to pages created in a workshop you participated in).
I met Amir E. Aharoni of the WMF who created the alphabets that were lacking in two local languages from my country.

Connections

[edit]

I initiated the Global South Coalition Meetup, a meeting to discuss the common issues in the Global South and share experiences on how others have been able to overcome such encounters. I participated in the Africa session were we discussed common issues and the way forward for the upcoming Wiki Indaba Conference (African Regional Conference). I also met User:Qgil-WMF and we discuss strategies to engage software developers in Ghana to contribute to media wiki and other related software.

In all i met quite a number of people who i look forward to working with. The list below include some of the people i met:

Anything else

[edit]

I met Tobias and Kelsey Wiens from Creative Commons South Africa and Ryan CEO of Creative Commons. We are working on getting an affiliate in Ghana, which will complement the activities of the User Group in Ghana.

  • I learnt more about Wikisource and the basics of contributing to the platform
  • I learnt a few things about Wikidata

I really appreciate the support of Wikimedia CH and the opportunity to attend Wikimania

Interviews

[edit]

I did a profile interview for the WMF and couple of interviews with Swiss Television (SRF), Source Code Berlin and an Italian Radio Station.
