Outcome
[edit]- Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
- Add a link here to a blog post or newsletter you wrote about your participation afterwards, or to a meet-up you organized to share your experience with your local community.
Having only spent two days at Wikimania, I ended up using my time on meeting people. In addition to a number of catch-up meetings, there was one that has the potential to be important.
I, as a former board member (along with other former board members of WMHU, as no board members were present at the conference) participated in a meeting with Alex Wang of the WMF Grants team on the status of the Hungarian chapter and its grant applications. The outcome of this meeting was shared with the current board members and also on the mailing list of the members of Wikimedia Hungary (a closed list). A meeting with the Board is planned for this week to further discuss the implications of this meeting.
Connections
[edit]I used the time to catch up with the developments in the Wikimedia world and to discuss the future of AffCom. I had very interesting conversations on organisational development of Wikimedia organisations (Jessie Wild, Chris Keating, Winifred Oliff), on the future of Wikimedia (Anasuya, Delphine, Arne Klempert, Asaf), and the status of certain affiliates (Ganesh from Nepal, and members of Wikimedia Armenia).
Anything else
[edit]I was grateful for the WMF in providing me a scholarship, and their flexibility in allowing me to attend for only 2 days of the conference due to a lack of vacation days.
Due to the closed nature of the WMHU mailing list and the discussion with WMHU board members, I cannot at this provide a link to them.
