Rationale for bridge funding

[edit]

Your organization has worked with WMF staff to determine that bridge funding is an option for your organization. Please also provide some background about this here on the public application form. Why does your organization need bridge funding?'

The Wikimedia Community Brazilian Group of Education and Research is planning to enter the Simple APG process this summer. In the mean time, they need funding to maintain their existing commitments, which include an iteration of the annual Wiki Loves Earth competition in Brazil. This competition was organized successfully in Brazil last year, and the timing of the competition requires that the Brazilian team coordinate with the global schedule, and os the contest date is fixed in May. This means that if funding were delayed until after the Simple APG is approved, Brazil would not participate in the contest this year.

Please see the past grant report for last year's contest results: Grants:PEG/Wikimedia_Community_Brazilian_Group_of_Education_and_Research/Wiki_Loves_Earth_Brasil_2015/Report.
