Goals

[edit]

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

  • No. We did not meet all our goals

Outcome

[edit]

Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
If at least 20 people participate 15 people participated We envisaged that at least 20 people would participate but only 15 people participated, partly due to the post-COVID-19 effects on various activities
If at least 50 COVID-19 articles are translated A total of 51 COVID-19 articles were translated We ensured that the 51 articles translated covered COVID-19 pandemic in different countries in Africa
If the site view increases by at least 50% The new articles did not result in increasing site views The new articles did not result in increasing site views. We will adopt a new strategy to promote the site views altogether
If at least 5 new editors are recruited Only 2 new editors were recruited We did not have many new editors recruitment because there were restrictions in offline engagement

Learning

[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
  1. The simplified articles for translation worked well
  2. Engagement of existing experienced Wikipedians
  3. Internet and the alternative power supply support by the WMF
  4. The project scope also worked well
  • What did not work so well?
  1. We did not receive adequate support from the Moleskine Foundation
  2. The restrictions of offline events
  • What would you do differently next time?
  1. Offline event is a major factor in achieving success for this sort of project. It looked like offline events would not have been possible due to the nature of the virus. Next time, we will use a radio to reach larger audience and to promote site views.
