[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?

This year regarding the main theme Health and Well-being, Cameroon is focusing its activities of the Wiki Loves Africa Cameroon 2021 competition on four cities (Buea, Yaoundé, Douala and Maroua). We have the entry on the scene of the city of Maroua which will host a conference on January 15, 2021 in order to inform the public and photographers of the far north region of the competition.

Each month we will have an activity in each of the cities from the official launch (February 15, 2021).

  1. Awareness on social networks from January
  2. Distribution of posters and flyers from January
  3. Workshop about 10 events including Uploads session + training sessions and how to participate : 2 events in Buea, 3 events in Yaounde, 2 events in Douala and 3 events in Maroua, from February-March-April
  4. A photo exhibition (5 best images) will take place at a local structure (Radel Maroua) with closing ceremony
  5. Jury work sessions
  6. Closing ceremony
  7. Post contest integration edit-a-thon : 2 events to be held

2. How will you let people know about the contest?

We have an address book of former participants in our previous contests (Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Earth), We will use our social media channels, news, television, Creation of posters and flyers, t-shirts... We will also use the network of photographers with whom we have partnerships.

3. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?

We will have a panel of judges who will set criteria for best images and use these as a basis to select the best images for local awards.

4. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?

Measures of success for WLA
  1. More than 500 photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons
  2. More than 25 participants uploading a photo
  3. Newly registered participants (about 10)
  4. 10% distinct photos used in Wikipedia articles
