Activities

[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?

Wiki Loves Africa 2022 in Botswana will focus on the collection of media content under the theme Homa and Habitat. This is important to us because our overall goal is to put Botswana on the map and this will greatly help us do that.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

We will use the Facebook handle: @WIKI LOVES AFRICA-Botswana and our personal instagram handles to promote the photo contest. Another mode will be through a WhatsApp group created specifically for the project. Having hosted previous competitions; we have a contact list of participants.

3. How will you let participants know about the contest? In what ways will you be communicating with them?

For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

- Facebook, Emails and Whatsapp groups.

4. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?
Note: Grantees, judges, and other contest leaders are ineligible to receive prizes. Grantees who are serving as judges may not receive gifts through grant funding.

- Judges who met specified criteria will be given the proper tools to judge the competition. They will also be properly inducted on how to use whatever jury tool is required e.g Montage.

5. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?

- We will provide a list of venues for photo walks to the participants and narrow it down to those which they select and make arrangements for them to visit at their own free time.

6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

There will be inperson events limited to 10 people.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

The event would be in person for 3 days and virtual activities to the end of the year. Participant who are not able to bring along their laptops during our 3 day physical meetups would share with their colleague under covid-19 strict guideline, we will also provide participant with data scholarships to the end of the year.
