Project Plan

[edit]

Activities

[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. What will you and other organizers spend your time doing?

Workshop in three parts:
Reflection on education and technology (4 hours)
Inserting Wikipedia onto the syllabus (8 hours)
Editing Wikipedia (8 hours)

How will you let others in your community know about your project (please provide links to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions)? Why are you targeting a specific audience?

Via social media: Twitter (_AT_)WikimedistasEC, and facebook groups, such as Wikipedia Education Program and an article via Education Newsletter.

What will you have done at the end of your project? How will you follow-up with people that are involved with your project?

We will have trained 15 high school teachers and 10 students that will become project leaders in their classrooms. Our follow up will be through online support, checking students edits and Commons uploads, and also email support to their teachers and their classroom projects' design.

These teachers will learn how to include Wikipedia and its sister projects onto their study plans and how to edit Wikipedia efficiently, so that they can guide their students through the whole edition process, same as with the 10 students we are going to train, so they can support their teachers' work among the students. To sum up, at the end of the workshop, our 25 participants will have learned how to edit and create articles on Wikipedia, how to upload files to Commons and how to work with Wikipedia in their classrooms.

Impact

[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more specific to your project:

  1. Number of total participants
  2. Number of articles created or improved (if applicable)
  3. Number of photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons (if applicable)
  4. Number of photos used on Wikimedia projects (if applicable)
Initially, our target will be 25 participants of the entire workshop, which will become a group of 100 involved students within twelve months. 100 pictures of Galapagos' wildlife will be uploaded in three months, and 50 of them will be used in Galapagos' related articles at es.wiki. 10 articles will be created within three months, and twenty others will be improved.
