Susanna Ånäs/Wikidocumentaries CC Summit 2019
I am presenting the Wikidocumentaries project in the Creative Commons Summit 2019. I will be addressing an important new community to the project and hope to work in collaboration further on. I will participate in the forming of the CC Global Network and the OpenGLAM platform. I will also learn about work with indigenous cultures to encompass our work in Wikimedia Finland with Sámi culture this year in Wiki Loves Monuments and further on.

Activities

[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. What is the purpose of the event you're attending and why is it important that you attend?

Creative Commons Summit 2019 is the annual congregation of the Creative Commons network. This year the reformed CC Global Network of chapters is setting up and hosting their first meetings, and platforms such as OpenGLAM are getting established.
Because of my role as country representative of the CC Global Network in Finland and my interest to work in the domain of open culture, I find it is important for me to participate in the event in general.
Secondly, I am presenting the Wikidocumentaries project. The goal is to inform about this Wikibase-powered microhistory project for aggregating and enriching Wikimedia content with other open content on the web and from the users. I will be addressing an important new community to the project and hope to work in collaboration further on.

2. Will you be presenting at the event?

Yes

3. What kind of outreach activity do you plan to do?

I will engage in conversations about the following topics:
  • Promote Wikidocumentaries as a project and seek future collaboration.
  • Discuss strategies for promoting CC0 for governmental data.
  • Learn about Traditional Knowledge labels and other projects with indigenous communities to encompass my work in Wikimedia Finland with Sámi culture and communities in the Wiki Loves Monuments special contest theme this year and further on.
  • I will be available along with Maarten Zeinstra to discuss the Wikimedia Commons Data Roundtripping project by Riksantikvarieämbetet.
  • I will liaise with the CC Global Network whose country representative I am.
  • I will connect with the OpenGLAM platform community.

4. How will you let other participants know about your outreach activity?

I will present and I will talk directly with people and hand out the contact information flyer.

5. Do you have a specific networking plan? (e.g. specific people, organizations, groups you would like to develop partnerships with)

Yes. For Wikidocumentaries I will engage translators, ask people to join the project's Facebook group and developers to join the project's Phabricator board. The contact information will be spread on a flyer.

6. What is your plan to follow-up with new contacts?

  • Project partners – develop project together
  • Continue work with potential developers and translators
  • Licensing – work together in strategic activities
  • Content strategies with likeminded projects – Present their work in blog post(s) and adopt best practises
