Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
- Sending out RSVP forms to know number of participants expected helped to prepare properly as we realized a significant increase in expected participants compared to what was proposed.
- Collaborating with DSC LASU core team members made awareness and preparation top notch.
- Providing data and refreshments was a big plus as most of the participants were university students.
- The choice of venue (ICT centre with PC) made editing and querying very easy since participants without a laptop could use the PC to write queries and use their smartphone to edit wikidata.
- What did not work so well?
- Waiting till event day before creating account for new users made editing difficult as the IP address was blocked for most of these new users and this affected participant engagement even after the event.
- What would you do differently next time?
- I would request for account creator right or create account for new users ahead of event based on the filled fields in the RSVP forms.
