Project Plan

[edit]

Activities

[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. How many walks/tours will you organize and how many people on each walk?

We would have an edit-a-thon where we would train university or tertiary student on how to create and edit wikipedia pages and also guide them to upload public photos of their school which is not found on wikipedia and wikicommons for a period of three months, we would work with selected universities in Ghana and tell the folklore story through edit-a-thon and photo-thon on wikipedia and wikimedia commons. We would essentially be having ten photo-walks.

2. What kind of content will the walks focus on? Why is this topic a priority?

The kind of content the walks would focus on are the various educational facilities, halls, folklore, student activity and many more so that the gap associated with tertiary institute which is not covered on the online encyclopedia would be made available. There would be further edits and curation of articles by students for their schools wikipage as result of guidance from the team.
The reason why this topic is of priority to us is a research we conducted on commons and we found out that there is a gap on universities in Ghana, on wikicommons and wikipedia space seems to be scanty or skewed so we decided to partner with some of the universities for this project. Some of the universities has approved partnership with them whiles others are yet to approved. The list is below:

3. What is the plan to ensure images will be used on Wikimedia projects?

After we are done with the walk we would have four days to upload photos to wikimedia commons and edit articles and curate articles that do not have images of how the various tertiary institution respectively on wikipedia.

4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes participant have the required skills and needed equipment for the walk

5. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

Yes there would be an in-person meeting for the student because its part of our partnership agreement, that we need to train student to acquire wikiedia skills that would enable them use in school. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13rlOB1WNXWcpL2Dq3HocTTgmVONi5u7NDnI6_DD8nLk/edit?usp=sharing
