Project Plan
[edit]Activities
[edit]Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What content gaps will you be filling with the equipment?
Our user group is working to document all of the buildings on the California state registry of historic places (link).
2. What activities will you organize in the next 6 months to create content and use it on Wikimedia projects?
We will organize 1 photowalk per month and one online writing competition over the next 6 months. These activities are funded separately.
3. How will the equipment be shared/tracked/cared for by members of your community?
We have set up a tracking system online to track what equipment we own, who is currently using the equipment, when it was checked out, and when it will be returned. (Here is a sample equipment tracking page: Wikimedia Ghana Equipment Logbook). The equipment will be lent out on a first come-first served basis. When it is not in use, it will be stored at the home of Alex Wang.
4. How long will the equipment be used, and by whom?
We expect the camera equipment will be used for at least the next 5 years by members of the user group.
5. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
Impact
[edit]How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more:
- Number of photos uploaded: 600 over the next 6 months
- Number of photos used on Wikimedia projects: 150 (25%)
- Number of articles created/improved: 50
Resources
[edit]What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).
The user group already owns one high quality point-and-shoot camera and tripod. Our user group member, Alex Wang, will order the equipment, store the camera when not in use, monitor the tracking log, and coordinate sharing among group members. When she is busy or out of town, Kacie Harold will store the camera.
What resources do you need? For your funding request, list each expense and include a total amount.
- Nikon D3300 camera (includes 18-55mm lens, 16GB card, and case): $400 (link on amazon.com)
- 3-Year "Drop and spill protection": $38
- Tax: $37
- Shipping: Free
Total: $475
