Goals
[edit]Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
The main goal of the project was to create awareness about the Wikipedia Education Program on the campus as well as give visibility to the Campus based club. To encourage other Lecturers to subscribe their students and courses on the Wikipedia Education program. The campus based club will also leverage on this to attract more students as members of the club and ensure continuity of the club.
These goals in our experience was appreciably met. The following ensued from our activities through this project:
- We trained about 250 students through this project which was more than our expectation of just 100.
- The partnership between the Social Theory course and the Club established their presence and increased the trust of students.
- The club planned their next election and transfer of leadership which stipulates longevity.
- The trained 250 students were introduced to Wikipedia and its sister projects.
- More than 20 new members were recruited to the club.

Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
- The Club was proactive about leading initiatives (partnering) with the Wikipedia Education Program (WEP) being run through the Social Theory Course on campus. This led a lot of the students to the club of which about 20 were retained. This also made the life of students participating in the WEP easy as their questions and problems were easily addressed by the club. It created an effortless environment to run a WEP as compared to previous years were we (OFWA) was heavily involved.
- Another thing worth sharing is the ability of the leaders of the club to create a tradition of trust by discussing and drawing succession plans for the club. We believe this has built trust for current and prospective members. It also leaves an envious character worth emulating, as it places the convenience and opportunity for everyone to rise as a leader in the club.
- What did not work so well?
- Internet issues on campus is a growing problem that needs solving, currently we keep exploring different teleco services to ensure we receive the best of service for a much more conducive editing environment.
- We also noticed that the Club Executives have specific abilities in editing and not necessarily managing and tracking activities from their membership. OFWA had to step in to support in setting up things like the dashboard for competitions and the WEP, as well as even helping them interpret the results from such tools. This is an area we think needs improving for future semesters.
- What would you do differently next time?
- OFWA will seek to organize a train the trainers session for the leadership of the club to be able to handle database of members, measurement and tracking tools for managing the club and the WEP. We will also provide project management and program planning trainings to ensure they are well equipped to be autonomous on campus and to be seen as the go group on campus for anything Wiki related.

We were happy to invite one members of the club to join us in the Asaf capacity building training which got the student particularly started around Wikidata. He has currently led a couple of Wikidata events on campus and is excited to provide similar trainings in the future.
