Goals
[edit]Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? Yes, I met my goals, we created and edited more than 200 articles.
Outcome
[edit]Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
Number of events = 6 | More than 7 | We exceeded the number of the event bearing in mind that the project was online, editors were editing and creating content at their convenient time. |
Number of new editors= 10 | We had 13 new editors | People creating Igbo articles and joining the Wiki family for the first time |
Number of articles created or Improved: 40 | 292 | The active editors were happy to participate and to keep busy instead of being idle due to the corona pandemic and social unrest in the country. Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
- Internet, Laptops, and the alternative power supply provided by the cybercafe
- The project scope also worked well
- The active editors were happy with the project
- What did not work so well?
- New editors had issues with the interface navigation and being an online program it took a lot of time explaining and putting them through.
- Translating from the English Language to the Igbo Language was a bit difficult for them.
- What would you do differently next time?
Organize the Igbo language class on how to do the translation.
Finances
[edit]Grant funds spent
[edit]Please describe how much grant money you spent for approved expenses, and tell us what you spent it on.
- Food and drink = $1,100
- Cost of data = $360
- Rental of workstation in cybercafe = $540
Total = 2,000 USD
Remaining funds
[edit]Do you have any remaining grant funds? No
Anything else
[edit]Anything else you want to share about your project?
A lot of people showed interest in the project. I therefore decided to make a group arrangement with the cybercafe for a period of 2 months to allow editors free access to use workstations whenever they wanted. I also made similar arrangement for data and for food and drink. This reduced the preferences that was available for the food and drinks but it served the purpose.
