Goals

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

Yes! I'm really happy, I fell a new horizons opened for my project and thinking about next one. A significant amount of free high quality content, unavailable before, was added to Wikimedia project. Also more "white space" detected in this field for further activities.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
18 songs by F.Chopin performed, recorded and published 20 songs performed, 19 published. at the beginning we wasn`t sure all the 20 songs could be achieved, but we do our best.
16 numbers (arias or ensembles) from Mozart`s operas 21 numbers was performed and published Mozart`s project arises a huge interest. Thanks to this during the preparation the amount of arias and ensembles increases from 16 to 25 numbers, but finally 21 was recorded.
36 audio files and 36 video files are expected. actually we uploaded 39 audio files and 28 video files In some cases we used to publish audio only. In some cases concert performance was not good enough and we used one from the rehearsal or sometimes the quality of video was not good enough.
Aprox. total length for Chopin is 40-50 min aprox. 53 min additional time thanks to 2 versions of first two songs by Chopin. Without this 2 versions - apr. 40 min
Aprox. total length for Mozart - 40-60 min aprox. 70 min We were pretty amazed by beautiful Mozart`s music and recorded little bit more
20 pieces by Chopin (vocal score, up to 96 pages) 20 pieces by Chopin, 54 pages well, Chopin's songs are not so long for 96 pages
15-20 numbers by Mozart (vocal score, up to 96 pages) actually 15 numbers by Mozart, 106 pages (Don Giovanni, Zauberflöte and Le nozze di Figaro) some of them are in process yet, some music sheets was prepared but was not performed.
Number of people attended concerts up to 200 both times both times concert hall was full of people

  • What worked well?

In total the project worked well. We watched a lot of lucky eyes of our listeners and even overworked our plan.

  • What did not work so well?

Still there are some technical problems with taking audio and video.

  • What would you do differently next time?

Possibly the project will need some diversification. Possibly I will prepare 2-3 different programs simultaneously but with different performers. Another idea is making a competition. It seems the project is enough experienced for this.

First event (Chopin's concert)

  • Hall rent – 1641.01 hrn (1630.50 hrn rent + 11.41 hrn bank fee)
  • Music sheet preparing – 1760 hrn (55 pages x 32 hryvnas per page)
  • Draft music sheet printing – 110 hrn (2 examples 55 pages x 1 hryvna per page)
  • Sheet music printing (50 copies) - 4100 hrn
  • Transport - 1173,24 hrn
    • - Musicians from Kharkiv, 2 persons – 533,24 hrn (incl. changing ticket due to changing the date of concert 32 + 32 , actual train tickets 109,91+182,24+111,63+65,46)
    • - Musicians from Rivne, 2 persons – 640 hrn (inkling bus tickets 160 + 160 + 160 + 160)

Remaining funds

The funds remaining from this grant in the amount of US$82.30 were deducted from another grant payment for Grants:Project/Rapid/World classics in Ukrainian Vocal contest/Report.

  1. to publish extra 20 examples of Chopin songs (I could ask the same publisher) - aprox. 60 USD.
  2. to spent some money for sending copies of this publication to poets from other cities by post - aprox. 17 USD.
