Goals

[edit]

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? We are very happy to have developed this experience, with some details the goals were largely achieved. We have been able to establish a base team to continue the development of the Wiki Loves Monuments in Peru and we have built a very interesting relationship with the Ministry of Culture, through the officials who work there and who have been an active part in the organization of the event, the organization of the exhibition and the jury of the local competition. At the same time, we have succeeded in positioning the group Wikimedia Peru among the people and collectives of the management of cultural heritage in Lima and some other places in Perú.

We have also been able to increase the capabilities of the current wikimedistas and those who participated in the meeting, so we have a plan to improve the impact of the next WLM call by preparing the lists of monuments with the official ministry information. It was a proposal of the working group at our planning meeting.

The annual planning meeting has helped us to know the projects we want to promote this year, the art and feminism project, the qhapac yum project, together with the Ministry of Culture and the Amazon peoples project (which was still in its first round of talks).

Learning

[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

We believe that to be our first meeting we have reached the proposed goals and we have involved more people. We formed an inicial team to develop activities about Huacas and Inca’s ways system (Caminos del Inca, Qhapac Ñan) with one officer in Qhapac Ñan team of Culture Ministry, and the team of Complex Arqueologycal Mateo Salado, members of OpenStreetMap and Wikimedistas de Perú. We will ask to more organizationes and colectives to participate in this project. We want to wor about this monuments in Wikipedia and OpenStreetMap projects. We want to improve the contents about the monuments wich compose this ways network and the arqueolgycal urban sites associated to him. We are organizing a common agenda to develop this project. Our first activiy about this will be focused in Mateo Salado Complex. We seeed in WLM an important moment to share and publicity these goals in internacional space, in the other hand, we will do this as a special projet. So we are in planning time now to take adventage to improve the relationship with the ministry of culture in order to coordinate with other ministries.

  • What did not work so well?

Some people from the interior of the country could not approach the meeting due to weather problems (roads in the Amazon and floods in the north of the country). At the same time we consider that we have had little time to plan and carry out a good diffusion, since we have begun to make the call once we have been certain about the funds, this has left us little time to do better. For future experiences we need to develop more work in media, press releases, and diffusion in other spaces than social networks. In Peru the cultural agenda works in very specialized spaces and we need to involve them in local schools and universities. Therefore, we believe that february is not the better month to do this, because schools, colleges and universities are on vacation time.

  • What would you do differently next time?

We need more time to better coordination activities and better plan for the participation of people from outside Lima. In order to have time to convoque a more people to participate in our team and distribute responsibilities and work. This is really important. Now we have the attention of members of jury and some of photographers that was participated, so they know the dynamic and the goals of this activity, so we think we can count with they.

Finances

[edit]

Grant funds spent

[edit]

Please describe how much grant money you spent for approved expenses, and tell us what you spent it on. We develop all the expenses in small local businesses, in food we spend in breakfasts and lunches for 10 people, in dinners for 6 and in a catering for 60 people that are composed of sweet and salty snacks, wine and water for the inauguration ceremony. For the transportation we use the services of a local taxi, this was usefull to arrive on time to several meetings and a pick up and back the inputs and materials needed to carry out the activity. The transport was necessary during the three days prior to the event and later for the delivery of prizes. The t-shirts that served as prizes were made in a local workshop with national ingredients, the logo was designed in three colors and we managed to obtain a high quality award. The day of the ceremony we had a professional sound system for the presentation of the winners and to have some music in the moment of sharing. The people who worked on sound control and who helped us serve the food did so voluntarily. We have a group of sikuris too, and they played music live and gived to people a special moment to dance. They came and played for free for us.

Remaining funds

[edit]

Do you have any remaining grant funds?

Some people have not collected their prizes, we will use these things as incentives for participation in activities of Wikimedia Peru. In sweepstakes open through our social networks.
