We will carry out a photowalk on the traditional settlement of the Gbagi native people who are still living in their traditional settlement stretching from North West part of Abuja to South East Part of Kaduna State in Nigeria. Participants in the tour, who will be working independently after an online briefing, will cover cultural relics, natural scenes, carvings, religious artifacts etc all of which will be added to wikipedia commons.

Project Goal

Choose one or more of the following goals. You can add or delete goals as needed. You can add details to each goal.

1. Add or improve content: we will create and add many photographs in wikimedia commons.
2. Recruit new editors: new editors will be recruited.
3. Engage existing editors: Existing editors will participate and it is hoped to get them more interested in adding exciting photos in commons.
4. we will improve the quality of photographs that are uploaded to commons since there will be a pre photowalk online lesson before the project.

Activities

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. How many walks/tours will you organize and how many people on each walk?

Each editor will independently tour different identified sections of the settlement for minimum of 3 times. There will be 8 editors engaged in the tour.

2. What kind of content will the walks focus on? Why is this topic a priority?

The photowalk will focus on the ways that the Gbagi people lives in their natural environment highlighting their cultural and religious relics, natural scenes, style of building, food preservation etc.

3. What is the plan to ensure images will be used on Wikimedia projects?

After the walk, there will be an online zoom class to brief editors on how to upload content in wikimedia commons. editors will thereafter add their work in commons. we will also popularize the presence of these pictures in commons by informing people using every available opportunity including the social media.

4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Some of the participants have good cameras. We will however rent some cameras. Before the walk starts, there will be an online lesson by an experienced photographer will be invited to speak on photography.

5. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

we will comply with Nigerian Covid 19 protocol throughout the project. There will be no gathering as all participation will be carried out independently and all lessons, discussion and upload of photograph will be carried out online

Impact

Resources

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

I have discussed with some village heads and they assured me of their support and corporation. i also have an experienced photographer who is willing to educate us on photography

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense and include a total amount.

1. payment for Zoom for two months for the training 15 X 2 = $30
2. Local transportation for each editor 8 X 3 X 21 = 504
3. Food and drink for each participant during each walk 8 X 3 X 25 = $600
4. Hire of 5 cameras $90 X 5 = $450
5. Data for each participant to upload the pictures to wikimedia common 8 X 15 = 120
6. Miscellaneous= $120
7. Total $1824
