Project Goal
[edit]- Introduce Wikidata and Wikidata query service to computer scientists and developers in Tunisia
- Give interested people the required basic and advanced SPARQL skills to make Wikidata queries to assess and enrich the knowledge base and to generate new knowledge based on existing data in Wikidata
Project Plan
[edit]Activities
[edit]- What is the purpose of the meeting and why is it important to your community?
- Allowing participants to master SPARQL query language so that they can use it for querying Wikidata and consequently to assess and ameliorate the quality of Wikidata and to use Wikidata as an ontological high-scale database for web applications for various purposes particularly medical ones.
- If applicable, what benefits have you seen from doing this kind of meeting in the past?
- Such meetings allowed participants to explore Wikidata and discover and adjust information gaps in Wikidata (https://www.wikimedia.fr/2016/02/24/wikidata-pour-la-science/).
- How will you let participants know about the meeting?
- Participants will learn about the meeting from offline ads, posts in social media and call for participants in specialized mailing lists.
- How will you keep participants engaged after the meeting is over?
- We will keep up engaged after the meeting is over by recruiting them to our association working on Wikimedia Research and Development and by inviting them to participate to our Wikidata-related research and development projects.
- Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- This meeting is a continuation of our work related to Wikimedia-related research beginning since 2012: Mohamed Ali Hadj Taieb, Mohamed Ben Aouicha, Abdelmajid Ben Hamadou: Computing semantic relatedness using Wikipedia features. Knowl.-Based Syst. 50: 260-278 (2013).
