Project Goal

- Create awareness of Wikimedia projects among Nigerian Librarians and LIS educators on the use of Wikimedia platforms to promote the visibility of library collections.
- Recruit 30 new editors and improve the skills of the existing editors.
- Creating awareness of what Wikidata and Wikiquote are and how to use them.
- Introduce Librarians and LIS educators in Nigeria to newer ways of teaching digital literacy skills using Wikimedia platforms.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
- The Wikimedia User Group Nigeria are in the know regarding this project, and the Nigerian Wikibrarians community have been adequately informed.
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- The prospective participants will be communicated using the existing channel of communication of the Nigerian Library Association and Nigerian Wikibrarians – social media group and platforms, banner and flyers.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high-quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Prospective participants are expected to have internet-enabled devices. Experienced Wikibrarians will be available to train them on ways to leverage on Wikimedia project in promoting digital literacy and visibility of Library resources.
6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- The participants will be on-boarded to Nigerian Wikibrarians Social media groups for engagement and dissemination of information during and after the program

- The event would serve as a platform to engender Wikimedia projects among members of the Nigerian Library Association.
Impact

Resources

- AfricanLibrarian (Project Leader): an experienced Wikimedian and Human Capacity Development & Training Director, AfLIA.
- Atibrarian ( Project Manager): an experienced Wikimedian and community organiser.
- Olushola: Chair, Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation and will be joining as a resource person virtually.
- Omorodion1: an experienced wikimedian, facilitator, and trainer will be available as a resource person.
- Bukky658: an experienced Wikimedian, trainer and project organizer within the Nigerian Wikibrarian community will be available as a resource person.
- Temilolu.52021: an experienced Wikimedia, a fellow WikiAfLibs Cohort 1&2 and has successfully organized 2 editathons at the University of Ibadan.
- Olugold: an experienced Wikimedian, Coordinator, Ig Wiki Librarians Hub; member, Wikimedia Ombuds Commission.

- Internet Bundle for team members and participants for 2days (during the seminar and post-project report writing): $120

- Hand sanitisers for participants and facilitators at the 2days seminars: $15
